Chris Wood posted some simple starting benefits for players. Here is another idea, slightly more complicated but it can change your play style more. It works a bit like the Penny Arcade deckbuilding heroes.

Note that this has nothing to do with your lord card, you still get that and it works the same.

At the start of the game pull out the plot quests and deal 3 to each player. They choose one and it starts off _completed and in play_.

This way you have a permanent ongoing benefit. Some are worth more points, others are more powerful.

If some are too strong or too weak we could cut this down to just the 10 most balanced ones and everyone could be dealt 2 and keep 1.

Mike.

At least these powers were play tested already. If you worry about balance they could still start of in play and benefits are active but it's your first mandatory quest.

So if you picked one that is very powerful you will be while completing it before starting on the real points.

That's a good idea as well! Will the remaining plot quests be reshuffled into quest deck?

With all the possibilities, I wonder if they deliberately left out abilities for each faction for a future expansion.

Yes the remaining plot quests are shuffled in normally. This is just a bonus starting ability to mix things up a little.

You can do a quest draft where you deal out as many quests that are required for the game and then let the last person pick the first, second to last second, etc...
