I saw this pop up in Google Reader a while ago, AEG has since taken it down but Google caught it all. whistle
Update: It is now officially up here: link
Quote:
We love Thunderstone variants around here. Just a few rules tweaks keep the game interesting and fresh, like a new game you somehow already know how to play.

After watching people invent their own variants all over BoardGameGeek, we finally decided to try a few of our own.

This is the first official Thunderstone Module: Bhoidwood Ablaze. It uses cards you’ve already got in your Towers of Ruin Thunderstone set, but lets you play a slightly different game with it. Download the PDF, print it out, and give it a try.

We’ll be posting more modules in the weeks to come, so check back regularly to see what we’ve got coming next. But for now, download ToR1, play a few games, and let us know what you think!

Re: First Official Thunderstone Module: Bhoidwood Ablaze
Hmmm, took a quick read of it, how can villagers flee if there are none?

Perhaps some should still be put in as a house rule? I know it says "village stacks" and is not specific on villagers... just being a pain I guess.

For realism maybe taking out a weapon and an item and adding a couple of villagers? Just a thought.

Can't wait to give it a go! Still looks like a nice add-on.

This refers to the shopkeepers, farmers, aerving wenches, and other villagers that keep the town running. Not Villager, the keyword.

The shopkeepers flee and take their wares with them, which is why each stack loses cards.

Was this taken down because it's not the final version? Page two has the "wildfire" rules on there twice, once for if there are 5 or more monsters, and once if there are 6 or more monsters. Which amount sets the Bhoidwood ablaze, 5 or 6?

Technical difficulties took it down, but it's back up now, including the correct version.

Didn't mean to play peekaboo with it -- I'm glad it got out at all!

1: Link is broken, but works over @ AEG.
2: Could someone please reformat the 2nd page into 2 seperate pages?
If you did I could use regular paper to print them, and the type would be a more readable size.

Got it reformatted so that each page of the module is its own page. Should be easier to print and read now!

This looks awesome! Great addition to the game. I hope these sorts of "modules" continue.

It's this level of official commitment that will really make buying the expansions a no-brainer. You've just guaranteed a sale of the first expansion when it comes out.

Re: First Official Thunderstone Module: Bhoidwood Ablaze
Hi! I have a question: I don't really understand when it says "darkness and penalty for each monster in the Thicket increases to X and -X". Example: There are 5 monsters in the Thicket and the heroes have no light. Does that mean that each monster has a Darkness of 3 and, therefore, heroes get a penalty of -9?

Thanks in advance.

If 5 monsters are in the Thicket, each monster in the Thicket has 3 Darkness and a -3 penalty. You can look at page 3 and see the modifiers next to the card slots, if that helps!

bump!

Question - anybody know what rank the Thicket is? the special rules say "all monsters are in the same rank"... but what rank is it? The falcon arbalest gives +5 for rank 2 or higher, but without knowing what the thicket is...

I'll go out on a limb and say "Rank 0" since there is initially no darkness penalty. Thematically, the darkness is caused by smoke and not the depth of the dungeon/ thickness of the wilderness.

A workable idea...

...which makes my Caliginites not as awesome as they are for my dungeon hall!

I'm a bit late to the party...any idea where I can get the modules? The Alderac links are all dead and Google sends me to BGG and to Alderac.

I was able to find CoB1: Bones to Pick and ToR1: Bhoidwood Ablaze using the Wayback Machine.

You could always translate the German versions I guess.

These are the two I was able to find:

I, too, would be overjoyed if somebody had the English module pdfs saved somewhere and could share.

This link at the Internet Archive shows all of the modules.
There are 200+ results but you can type "pdf" in the filter box on the upper right side to filter them down.

(The forum doesn't like the link, copy the whole thing into your address bar)
http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.alderac.com/thunderstone/files/*

Modules:
* ToR1 - Bhoidwood Ablaze
* ToR2 - Market Under The Lake
* ToR3 - The Eight Swords
* ToR4 - Deus Ex Incendia
* ToR5 - Woods Guard Their Own
* CoB0 - Guard Duty
* CoB1 - Bones To Pick
* CoB2 - Old Home Week

Unfortunately, after Caverns of Bane was released, Alderac stopped really supporting Thunderstone or communicating with fans. That's a big part of why I lost interest. I finally came back, found all the expansions on eBay, and have the complete set =)
