Catacombs or Ascending Empires or something else entirely?

Interested in comparison of component quality and fun-factor slash replayability.

I've been enjoying Dungeon Fighter since I got it last week. Great components, fun game play. Not a serious game at all, almost a party game.

I LOVE Ascending Empires but to me it is really a strategy/tactics game with a dexterity element. You might be disappointed in it if you want a dexterity game.

As for dexterity games, I haven't played Catacombs but I love me some Sorry! Sliders, Crokinole, and PitchCar. They are all 'flicking' type games but fill very different niches. The first is easy on the budget and plays really quickly so its great as a filler and for non-gamers. Crokinole is probably the best of the three and is a timeless classic but it is also the most expensive and limited in terms of players supported. Pitch Car is also pricey and very fun but is perhaps more 'family friendly' and supports a great range of players (2-8).

I also love playing Tumblin-Dice, but you need a large block of time; not because it takes a long time (about 5 - 10 minutes) but you will play at least 6 - 10 games in a row.

Bisikle or RoadZters, despite the spelling thing, are fun, cheap and challenging. They need some real finesse to get the ball to go where you want it to.

My current favorite is probably Ascending Empires, but I can see why some people might disqualify it. After that, probably Hamsterrolle: it's such a cool way of doing a stacking game.

When asking "What would Jesus do?", remember that flipping over tables and using a whip are within the realm of possibilities.

2 players = Crokinole

More than 2 players = Tumblin-Dice

But the op is looking for fun factor, not a game that is only interesting in the last 2 minutes.

Pricier games: Crokinole, Zopp, Weykick, Carrom

Mid-range expense: Bausac, Bisikle/Pitchcar

Less expensive games: Elk Fest, Hula Hippos, Hop Hop Hooray, Loopin' Louie

What... no one has mentioned Loopin' Louie yet? Definitely one of the most simple yet fun dexterity games around.

Well I guess someone did just before me.

Catacombs is fun, but it also feels more like a strategy game with a dexterity mechanic.

If you want a dexterity game with some more tactical elements, have a look at Safranito.

last two minutes, that is when the game slows down! All the fouls and free-throws and time-outs...

Probably some better ones on here, but wouldn't Galaxy Trucker have dexterity as a necessary component to becoming a great player?
