An opportunity has arisen for me to get either of these...

The Mighty Endeavor...or

Liberty Roads

..both similar in concept and scale but which to choose?...

Of the two I've only played The Mighty Endeavor. I really like the Standard Combat Series but with Mighty Endeavor the German player has to be a real masochist because in the game you pretty much spend the entire time getting pummeled with the goal to simply try to fend off this onrushing onslaught. Historically accurate mind you.

I've played both. Liberty Roads is much the more sophisticated game, with much greater overall depth (and, I might say, a longer playing time).

If this is what you want, Liberty Roads is the game to go for.

Count me in for Liberty Roads. I recently acquired the game and found the rules very easy to grasp( just needed a few sessions in the "master library"). I think the combination of the system and components just made me want to get this game on the table. The first scenario is quite challenging for the Allies.

You've already made your choice, and Liberty Roads looks to be a good one [get the expansion too].

Note that Mighty Endeavor II is on the horizon [not sure if it hit the Pxxx list yet or not]. I don't think it's a straight reprint. It's funny that the German player's misery is mentioned; I, on the other hand, think that the the Allied side kind of turns into a dull grind fairly quickly. Of the SCS games I've checked out [a limited number thus far; I'm figuring Fallschirmjaeger will be the next one I pull out] gameplay in this one seems a whole lot less fun for either side than the others. I expect there will be some changes in this one to make it worth getting to the table more often.
