As far as I can tell, your suppose to have two TIE-Fighters per X-Wing, right?
That's why the base game comes with one X-Wing and Two TIE's.

But in the expansion sets that have been announced, there is only one TIE in the TIE expansion.
So if I want to add an X-Wing to my game, I'll have to buy two TIE expansions?
Then I'll also have double the pilots and cards that come with that expansion.

Why doesn't the TIE expansion just cost a little more but have two TIE's?

It does seem a bit strange. But maybe 3 ties is enough to fight a ywing and an xwing. Or maybe a tie advanced can fight one alone.

The point of the expansions is to get the exact ships that you want - nothing more, nothing less. If you want another 2 TIEs for 1 X-Wing, then get 2 TIEs and 1 X-Wing. This way people aren't forced to pay for a 2nd TIE if they only want 1.

Plus, the expansions will most likely be in a standard package that wouldn't allow 2 ships to fit in it. If they did that, then they would have to redo packaging probably making for a less economical 2-pack than you think.

Finally, if you really want to keep the ratios the same 2:1, then you might consider just getting 2nd base set. From what I can see on sites that have it on pre-order, for 3 ships, you are better off getting a 2nd copy of the base game and get all teh extra stuff that comes with it.

Actually, it is a points based system. Each pilot has a points cost, each droid, enhanced weapon and special equipment card also has a point cost. Apparently on average 2 TIEs equals 1 X-Wing. Though I am sure that it is possible to have 2 really crappy X-Wings vs a single Ace/Named TIE Pilot.

don´t you know the HOT DOG conspiration? 10 Breads with 8 sausages? it´s a complete Conspiration theory...

I guess that if they are selling the Tie as single is because they want you to buy what you want to have, 2 or 3 it´s up to you.

Because it also requires two maneuver discs and such.

It would not be a little bit more.

I wouldn't mind buying a second TIE expansion.
But it's having double up of the same pilots and other cards that bug me.

One solution would be to have a TIE Expansion #2.
With other pilots and such.
Or just a ship expansion, no pilots or any other cards.
(guess you'll still need the manoeuvring disc though).

I think multiple expansions with the same ship and different cards is great for those looking for variety. I think it's a great idea you made!

The bad thing is (and this is not really a bad thing), if they do make multiple versions per ship type for expansions- I'd be inclined to buy them all since I'm a completionist. Money sink, much?

Still, in time, maybe not on day 1, but at a later point, it's definitely a great idea to implement.

On another note- it would be great to have a card/upgrade expansion per side of play (rebel/imp). Just a bunch of cards and such with pilots and upgrades. Or maybe some new manouvers/abilities in an expansion would be cool.

Eating too many hot dogs could indeed give you conspiration.

That's why all hot dog packs have a conspiraton date stamped on them.

Hang on...

Well, I'd rather get multiple pilots with each TIE so that I have duplicates than individual pilots which would force me to buy more TIEs to have more options. And until you get into the expanded universe, it isn't like the WWI/WWII planes where you can buy them in different paint schemes. All TIEs I've ever seen were the same gray color.

Each ship needs a set of pilot cards, because each ship has its own pilot.

If you had only a single level 5 tie pilot card, you couldn't have two ties each with a level 5 pilot. By providing cards with each ship, you have the cards to make any combination of pilots/ships.

The TIEs in the first movie were a light grey, the TIEs in EMPIRE and JEDI were a kind of steel-blueish grey.
I´m not sure of the reason for the change right now, since a better visibility because of the blue-screen filming is out of question.
As a side note I remember reading somewhere that the official TIE models that were commercial available after A NEW HOPE were so good that ILM used them in EMPIRE (and likely JEDI), even if just for explosion filming.

Is it just me or in the recent publicity photos on the FFG website and on the back cover of GTM do the X-Wings look to be seriously out of scale to the T.I.E.s?
