Does anyone know why there is no mechanic for acquiring a target in this game (arty)?

It would seem that if you hit a target on one turn that the # needed to hit that target on a successive turn would be lower. Just curious. Chad?

Does anyone 'house rule' this?

John

I'll go out on a wild crazy limb and predict that the additional bookkeeping to keep track of it was not considered worth the gain in realism.

My guess is, if you hit a target, they might move.

In a few scenarios (eg 60 and 61 both in the Normandy BP), there is a scenario special rule for "pre-registered" fire where the sighting roll step is skipped and the artillery fire is automatically a "hit" with only minor drift.

That's not the universal response (to put it mildly). You should get my hate mail.

Alex asked: "huh, he was away?"

David has been very scarce on the Combat Commander boards since about July 2010.

Aha, I thought the earlier comment meant back at BGG, which was confusing.

I dislike many things about BGG (including a lot of the users, norms of behavior, moderation practices, etc.). Often I'll get fed up and go for months without posting. Then I come back and post too much for a while, because I'm genuinely interested in the games and there are some good people. Then get fed up and take another long break.

Anyway, that's probably more than is worth writing about me.

I knew you'd taken breaks from BGG in the past, but I'd seen you around in the past couple months (notable in this Fjords thread), so that's what confused me about you being "back" now - not realizing it was apparently CC:E-specific or something.

That's exactly when I started posting again (the Fjords thread, in early April). Before that I hadn't posted in several months.
