I am getting ready to play my first games and am acquiring minis for them too. My question is why are the maneuver decks so large with duplicate maneuvers? I understand that some planes are more manueverable than others, thus, the larger, option in deck size. However; flipping through the decks, they are a lot of duplicate cards. Straight cards etc

Why is this? Reading through the rules, each card is recycled back into the deck.

Are the duplicates so you can do the same maneuver 3 times etc?

Trust us, there will be times when that is exactly what you want to do.

The game looks like a lot of fun. I have learned the rules and am in the process of acquiring the deluxe minature set which comes with planes from flying aces I think. Coupled with the balloon busters and I think my friends will have a fun time with this one.
