Though only a test game with myself, as I had misread merchant raiding (swapping 1) and 2) - don't ask me how I managed that :what. So I wanted to see what impact that might have on pirating. Not sure I really did see that in such a short and lucky game, but it was indeed a pirate who won.

Turn:

1) Dominique de Richery in Basse-Terre. Got Ghost Ship as rumor. Succes with the ghost ship (1 glory) and raid in Basse-Terre sea-zone gained 12 gold (2 glory).
2) Sailed into San Juan due to a specialist there (Master Gunner). Port and new rumor The Slave Galleon.
3) Move out, raid against Spanish merchant gained 13 gold (3 glory). Master Gunner proved very important, as Richery could then keep a cargo card with cannon hit on (3 or 4 gold on it). Moved down to Basse-Terre sea-zone.
4) Move to Trinedad sea-zone, captured the galleon (4 glory), raided merchant for 15 gold (in 4 cards he got three 5's - then discarded the 1 gold hit to his mast) (so now at 5 glory).
5) Move to home-port Basse-Terre and port. Sold 4 cargo at 12 gold making a total of 48 gold. And then sold 2 special weapons at 1 gold each and stashed 50 gold .

The other captains did okay I thought, and was busy enough not to disturb him. Two merchants in the eastern-part with good cargo draws, so they would not attack Richery and another pirate in the west, so he never managed to threaten him either. One of the merchants could have attacked after Richery's turn number 3), since he had taked 2 damage then. But he still had at least 2 special weapons (maybe all three), 3 crew (hammocks) and both merchants had 3 of one cargo (I think), so still too risky for either of them.

My understanding is that cargo is worth 6 gold when in demand and sells for 3 gold when not in demand. Therefore your 4 cargo, assuming they were all the same (lets say wood for example), could only be worth a maximum of 24 gold if wood was in demand in Basse-Terre.

I believe he's saying that was 48 total, not 48 for the sale alone.

Yes. You're probably right. I read it too quickly.

Exactly - sold 4 goods not in demand for 3 gold each bringing the captains total amount of gold up to 48.
