BGG states that 1942 takes 3 hours, while Axis Allies Revised(2004), takes 4 hours. While Axis & Anniversary edition take 6 hours.

Does this sounds correct?

Why does 2004 version take longer than 1942 and A&AAE take longer than both?

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Bill

Remember that "official" playtimes are part marketing information and part reality. Also it may vare wildly between game groups and individual games.

AA50 probably has the most realistic play time listed. (Why is AA50 always superior no matter what comparison comes up?)

Right. So does 1942 really take only 3 hours while AA2004 takes 4 hours.
Or is this just marketing speak?

I don't see anything that would make 1942 significantly longer or shorter than Revised.

Ok, that is what I was wondering.

Thanks!

Usually, the game is not played to the point that one side wins. It is quite clear which side will win one to three turn before they actually do. So that will cut down 0.5-2 hours of play time.
