in Dutch, a J is pronounced as a Y in English, so "Pepijn" is pronounced "Pep-INE".

Pepijn van Avezaat will be pronounced like this:

PE-PIJN

with PE as in PEpper
and PIJN as in PINEapple

VAN sounds like VAN but with the A of Apple.

A-VE-ZAAT

with A as in bananA
with VE which rhymes with THE
wite ZAAT as the word SITE but with the vowel (again) from bananA

does that help?

Now THAT is cool!

To the poster above: On a gaming level, I get it, on a cultural level...the more I stared at the card, the more it bothered me not to understand...French- easy; German- no problem-very static pronunciation rules.

But its not often that I have encountered Dutch in a setting like this. Additionally, every Dutch person I have ever met has shown incredible mastery of the English language. (most "hyperboreans" too!) While that is great for them, it has made a little lazy in seeking a basic understanding of their language.

Anyway, I love languages, and there are so many!!!
