It looks like there are some folks interested in some of the details about the game. I recently received a review copy and have posted two articles about the game:

Details about the contents of the box:

Video of opening the box:

The original announcement from a few weeks ago:

The Japanese had Tiger tanks? Really?shake
--------------------------------------------
Ok, I cannot leave it negative like that.

I have 2 copies of this game on pre-order and it looks like it will be a lot of fun. I just wish that they had not given all the allies the JS-2 tank and all the axis the Tiger.

Agreed, it's a shame but if you squint a bit you could pretend the U.S. tank is a Pershing and if you squint even more you could pretend the UK tank is a Cromwell or Comet. Just looking on the brightside and you could throw all your history books in the bin and pretend Japan ever had a heavy tank at all. Still the scultps are beautifull don't you agree.

HMS Hood is nice, but it's somewhat disconcerting to see that at a secret shipyard, both the Soviets and the USN were cranking out HOOD-class capital ships.

The AKAGI is nice.

The KV-85 is a nice hefty tank. I suppose I can pretend it's a Pershing, but was hoping for a re-done Sherman that doesn't look as though it were modeled after Dolly Parton.

Good He-111, Me-109 and P-40.

Japanese Tiger tanks? They must all have been in China.

Board is interesting, and easy on the eyes.

There's a revised A&A '42 coming?!

The release date was changed some time ago to July 27th. The same day Axis & Allies 1942 Second addition comes out.

I haven't seen any anouncement to this effect. It doesn't surprise me. Wizards are always delaying releases but the chap from Gaemslore was certainly under the impression it would be released on 19th just a few days ago when he responded to my post. I really wish they wouldn't do this kind of thing... rapidly... losing... interest.
