This session report follows on from Game 1, still without specifics on coin placement on territory cards.
To open Game 2, Josh reprised his selection of Die Mechaniker and began in Northwest Territory. Similarly, Timmy chose Enclave of the Bear again and started in Brazil... again. John took Imperial Balkania and began in Western Australia, and Stephen took Khan Industries and began in East Africa. Kevin took Saharan Republic and began in Japan.
This game went similarly to the first game. Stephen took over Africa while Timmy took over South America, resulting in another border skirmish. John took Australia and expanded into Asia, while Josh took over North America. Stephen started to expand into Europe because Kevin - again - was not expanding aggressively through Asia or Europe.
This wide swath of open space allowed John to sweep into Asia, take Kevin's base in Japan, and then slice down into East Africa and take Stephen's base for the swift victory.
These games seem to suggest the old-fashioned method of expanding out of Australia is still somehow cheap, but a strong player in Asia can keep a strategy like that contained. The problem is in leaving the player room to breathe.
John opted to build a major city - Ambrosia - in East Africa. The other players all put coins on cards this game, including a third coin on Argentina and Eastern Canada. Still no packets opened, despite a concerted effort to drive Kevin off the board. Maybe next time.
Current state of the game:
Ammo Shortage in North Africa
Bunker in East Africa
Major Cities in: East Africa, Southeast Asia
Minor Cities in: Alberta, Argentina, Egypt, Great Britain
Three coins on: Eastern Canada, Argentina
Two coins on: Japan, Egypt, Brazil, Southeast Asia, Eastern United States, Siberia, Kamchatka, Southern Europe, Iceland, North Africa, Mongolia, Russia
