Hi,

Just trying to get a feel for the play time with a varying # of players.

How well does this game play with just 2?

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

It's been a while since I've played a 2-player game of VQ. Most of our final testing was 5 or 6-player games. I did however just start up a 2-player game with a BGG member who had questions about it (using VASSAL). Overall 2-player works well because the Spain/France pairing has a lot of synergy to it, just like the English/Protestant one. However it's probably easier to learn to just play one power at a time (as in a 4, 5, or 6-player game), so if you can scrounge together at least 4 players I'd recommend that for your first game.

I think VQ pretty clearly works better with 2 players than it does with 3. In the 3-player configuration the English/Protestant is the only one getting the advantage of cross-play between two powers, so they definitely have an edge.
