Has anyone been to Crooner's? Sounds like a potentially neat date night idea, with food and drink and live music.

I have been there twice. Once at the bar to eat and watch a show and the other was in the dining area.

The menu has a decent number of selections but ordinary selections. We had the prime rib twice and I had a salmon filet that was good. We enjoyed the entrees and sides. The food we had was seasoned but not overpowering. Drinks were reasonable and good as well.

The dining area is a nice, comfortable restaurant setting. Not upscale but has charm. The bar/stage area isn't too large so you can easily see and hear the act. From the stage there are regular tables, then the bar, with additional higher seating around the bar. We sat at the back of the bar and had no problem hearing the performers with only the occasional obstruction of people walking by.

I would go back and recommend checking it out.

Also, FYI since we're bumping today...

Graze Food Hall by Target Field is open. It's a Gen X'ers paradise with video games, fun music, rooftop bar, and several places for food.

I've had poke which was good and Grilled Steak Bowl from Lu's which was decent. I liked the curried tofu my wife had better though.

I've been excited to check Graze out. It's just far enough out of my usual rambling that I haven't made an excuse to stop by. I'll have to remedy that.

Best Thai food for me is: Pattaya Thai & Wok in the Park

Best lunch: JK's Table (amazing spicy tuna poke bowl)

Best place to take an Out-of-Towner: Good Day Cafe (breakfast), Rodizio (dinner)

I don't drink!

+1 for JK's, a tiny little office cafe with authentic Japanese food!

I like their mackerel special, but words are failing me. So, here's a pic. It's also even better without any sauce (wasabi+soy sauce).

Aha, that's the word. It's seared mackerel on rice, and each piece is roughly twice the size of the standard nigiri (both the rice and the fish portion). There's a tiny bit of wasabi and red ginger underneath the mackerel, so you don't even need any of the extra they give you.

My wife and I were walking by Steamship/Universe the other day and she (a habitual real estate browser) noted that they appear to be for sale.

I still feel like they need to learn how to make a brown butter style. I know, controversial opinion... but the best thing I ever put in my mouth was the James Beard award winning Japanese Milk Bread Brown Butter Lobster Roll at Eventide in Portland Maine.

Damn you!

I mentally workshopped a joke for that for about twenty minutes, and then gave up, and your is better than anything I imagined.

I was going for something like "It's always delicious when you adjective nouns."

Pity thumbs for the poor, guvnah?

I was just going to go with the classic quip, "I bet you can't say that five times fast."

You know they published their recipe, right? The secret ingredient is dried milk powder.

I didn't know this, but we did try to make our version. Turned out pretty darn good actually. But it was pretty putzy. We'll have to check this version out!
