suggest you put "videogames" into your thread's subject... that way us boardgamers can ignore the thread, but more importantly, videogamers who may normally ignore hot deals can be drawn in

Finally!!!!

Now I can spend money on a ton of games I really want but never find time to play! Just like my boardgame collection!

That said - I want Arma II, Crusader Kings II and some DLC for Civ 5

You have some good taste, my friend. All of these are great games. Hopefully you have a rig that can run Arma II in all of it's glory.

For the unindoctrinated, make sure if you want something and can check every day don't buy it yet if it's not a daily deal (or apparently flash deals now.)

The daily deals will change daily and all the other prices are good until the last day.

Can OPs please put "JeffyJeff KEEP OUT" in their thread's subjects in the future so he knows to ignore them and I don't have to constantly grimace over his milk monitor routine?

TO THE STEAM SALE!

Great post. The Golden Rule in regards to Steam sales, "Wait until the Deal of the Day". You may think it's a good price now but when that $15-$10 game goes to $5 or less a day or two later you'll kick yourself for not waiting.

The new community choice and flash deals throws a new curveball in that classic rule. But I think you should treat those just like Daily Deals as I see it unlikely any of those will be in the main daily deal area unless it's part of some bundle.

I find Mount and Blade to be a lot of fun also. Paradox has lot's of stuff in their catalog I enjoy.

A good way to keep track of the sale is via the SlickDeals thread. The OP gets updated with the daily deals, and the new Flash Deals.

Portal is a great buy. I've really been enjoying Warlock : Master of the Arcane which I purchased off of a sale a month ago and I see that it's on sale for three and a half hours from when I post this.

it's worth every penny. twice. at least.

bought it while it was on sale the last time, and it really managed to keep me away from diablo 3 (!!) from time to time (the game i an others have been waiting for >10 years).

portal 2 is very close to perfect, imo. tricky, fair(!) puzzles combined with a great story. buy it, you won't regret it.

And this is why you always wait for sale prices on Steam.

I'm ok with Steam sales since I have played a fraction of the horde of games I got back during their Christmas sale in 2010. It's really driven by the "economy of someday." IE, "I need to get this now since it's so cheap and then someday I'll play it." It's like people who auction off sealed copies of board games that they never got around to playing.

What Matt said...

As the number of games I own approaches infinity my personal free time available to game has asymptotically approached zero. Unfortunately this is a correlation - not causation.

QFT

I've spent a little but seriously, how many "complete" packs, or random indie games have I really played? I have weaned myself off indie bundles too, trying to play what I own.
