Which game would you recommend to a solo war gamer: Sword of Rome or Carthage: The First Punic War? Does Carthage really take 1200 minutes to play? It's fine if it does. I usually leave my solo games up for a couple days and take my time with them.

I play SoR solo and enjoy it, but I have not tried Carthage. SoR is fun as long as playing a CDG solo doesn't bother you.

I've played SoR solo a number of times and enjoyed it very much. Carthage has multiple scenarios, the longest of which covers the entire 1st Punic War and does take a very long time. I've only played some of the shorter scenarios, but found it interesting and quite doable for solo play. Carthage is a much more complex game if that's a concern. If you can only get one I'd recommend SoR, unless you're completely fascinated with the 1st Punic War.
