As in I'm looking at these sets to expand my D&D Adventure System board games. I'm still torn really,
I've read post and watched videos but I'm still unsure if I want to shell out the cash to add a few minis to my games.
It would have been nice if they added in an adventure book for the board games with a few quests using these sets but they didn't.

Anyways, what the thoughts around here? I really want to make a campaign that starts in the woods and leads the heroes down in to the dungeons.

Ramble alert! forgive my spelling grammar please,

dunno how 1/2 baked my ideas are yet, but others in the community are very active on making monsters and new heros and new events etc.. to add to D&D system will surely make new adventures
I wonder if we will see custom order cards as well in the future..

I think Wizards have hinted at downloadable content to show system and dc merge


I've also kinda done ghost of cormyr an adventure about laying the good heros ghost to rest,
(which goes like this find the crystal in LOD from then explore out to doors from CR which will then reveal CR crypts, escort the ghosts back and forth, while fighting of new monster and an Umber hulk )


a simpler idea i had was
i thinking with the Sting Drow monsters instead of mixing up the monster decks they can be used as a chamber when you reach a chamber instead of the WOA monster use the new monster to create an "end game possy" to kill, i didn't want to mix them straight is as there a lot of more then 1 hp monster with high damage powers xp3+

I was thinking off looking at what comes in a chamber normally and balance it by adding up the Hp and damage of the monsters..


another idea is I'd like to make a story adventure using the the out door tiles about pushing the drow attack force back to the dungeon and then closing the dungeon,

maybe a get across the map quest before the enemy get to x point on the map..


I'm also debating using dungeon command solo, treat it like D&D system, each 5x5 space has a monster on it and then have the monster react with there command cards instead of the basic AI cards..
I want to play gears of war again see how they do it..
i think i would mean the monster might move attack and then move out of range or do extra damage even though its a little monster etc..
just at idea stage...

also what about a heroquest style adventure layout premade a map and reveal it room by room, just like you would in hero quest add a story and goal to fit..
i know some of the fun in D&D system is reavelign things, but sometimes its just the plain ol fun fight though this challenge!

as i said some are 1/2 baked idea need some filling out and testing

things i want to see in dungeon command:-
King of the hill? (control this zone on the map)
Siege? a superior force maybe 24 monsters vs defensive position Heros
Tower gate map for the siege
Over flow campaign game play e.g drow attack at night they are pushed back to dungeon or a further press the attack 2nd game?



i think the great community will make variants,


Even if none of the above ideas are good, just extra monsters and DC might be enough

If you don't paint mini's, it'll be a PITA. You'll be mixing painted and unpainted miniatures, which is aesthetically annoying.

However, the Cormyr set has heroes and allies. And if you're gonna mix painted and unpainted, you'll want the heroes and allies painted. Plus, of course, the allies aren't just more monsters.

I think it'll depend on how well the Cormyr miniatures proxy for the D&D AS ones. Already, you know you'll have to get the Spider Queen set if you're gonna proxy Drizzt.

EDIT: Just checked Amazon prices, and they're about $10 (including shipping) than when I pre-ordered a month or so ago. shake
