Haven't received my copy of the game yet, but if I've understood right there are no miniatures for lieutenants. What I do have is an extensive collection of various mixed miniatures and I'd appreciate if someone could share who the six lieutenants are so I could find/buy miniatures for them.

Splig - A fat goblin?
Belthir - Some kind of dragonspawn?
Zachareth - Roguish human male
4. ?
5. ?
6. ?

Also if anyone has good suggestions on the suitable miniatures I'd love to hear them. I think ordering the official ones from the States will be too expensive, so I think I'll be looking into Pathfinder miniatures or such which are more easy to come by through ebay.

The last three lieutenants are the Farrows: Sir Alric, Lord Merick and Lady Eliza. The official miniatures can be found here:
http://store.fantasyflightgames.com/showproducts.cfm?FullCat...
They are considered part of the 1st ed. line of products, so a little harder to find on FFG's website since 1st ed. was put in archive status.

Edit: Damn, beaten to the punch.

The metal mini's from FFG are pretty nice- but a little pricey, if you intend to get them all. They're usually about $10, a piece. You can always go for a slightly less-expensive option by checking out prepainted DnD, WoW, or Pathfinder miniatures. If you have a local game shop, they might have cheap single figs from these ranges, and maybe others.

I'm painting custom figs for some of my hero players, and I'm using mostly figs from Reaper. You can search their website for specific traits (ie. Male, Female, Sword, Crossbow, Shield, etc.) and come up with some really interesting, and thematically (if not 100% visually) acurate alternatives to the plastic hero/monster figs that come with the game, as well as the metal ones FFG has offered for lieutenants.

If you're fortunate enough to have a local store with loose, prepainted mini's from any of the ranges mentioned above, that's probably the easiest (and cheapest) way to go.

I'm sure FFG will release the miniatures again or they design new ones (maybe a "Farrow"-Set) to make some more money.

I don't know about finland, but I was able to find all of them in Norway. You have the same bookstore I bought em in, but I guess the 1ed ones are mostly out of stock. But looky: http://www.adlibris.com/fi/product.aspx?isbn=1589946049 some remain.

Of the official ones I think Alric is pretty nice, Merick and Eliza are kinda bland. All of them are easy to find proxies for from pretty much any miniature manufacturer. A lady, a (fire)mage and an armored warrior. Same with Zachareth, any of the pathfinder minis who look kinda evilish would probably do nicely.

For Splig I'd look for a troll or orc I think, haven't seen to many fat goblin minis, but bunches of paunchy orcs and trolls. And yes, dragonspawn/dragonman would probably fit Belthir, something like this I imagine: http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/dragon/sku-down/03473

It would be nice thou to have the minis when you start with the campaign.
Again I'm still too much of a GM instead of an OL. I want to increase the gaming-experience for my group. And when after some quests the group meets a boss an it's just a token.... well I don't know. Kinda anti-climatic...

First one that caught my eye thinking of Splig was this dude:
http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/orc/sku-down/14583

For Zacareth/Alric:

Possible Merick:

Eliza:

(I just love that sculpt)

Just quickly browsed through the pathfinder lineup as they have some really decent minis there. You can probably find a bunch more in the other product lines though.

Again, Farrows are all "regular" old human beings. Any gamestore anywhere that markets minis, whether they be GW or any other, will probably have very suitable replacements.

Here is a link to the official Fantasy Flight miniatures for the three new ones, just in case no one here finds a happy alternative that works for them.

Just to be clear, I posted the link in case people came across this thread trying to find miniatures, who might NOT know that Fantasy Flight was already making some official ones. Sorry if that was misunderstood, and I edited my original post accordingly.

Awesome stuff so far. Thanks for all. It is a good point from Cornbread to have that link to the official stuff here so people can get them if they wish. Always good to have extra utility in the thread that helps people outside my needs.

As I stated in my original post I don't mind ordering miniatures (and painting them) but I have a huge box full of random stuff and the absolute best thing would be to find suitable miniatures from there.

So I've gathered I need:

- A big goblin / orc
- A roguish male miniature (with a beard!)
- A dragonspawn
- A male with robes
- A male death knight kinda chaos warrior
- A female mage

All those (and more) I have. The problem is that the Descent minitures are not typical heroic 28mm scale, but smaller. With the goblin/orc and dragonspawn this doesn't really matter but with the human characters I might be forced to get some Reaper stuff which scales better. A huge thanks to the links to possible replacements from the Reaper line.

Has anyone actually gotten these to use? If so, which ones, and how did they turn out? Also, are any of the reaper minis painted? A lot of them have painted pictures, but they don't say for sure.

Thanks for helping out a mini newbie!

Here is a photo of the figures that I'm using as Lieutenants:

I have a bunch of D&D miniatures photographed along with official Descent figures in this thread:
