Hi all,

seems to have a hard time with the rules, so I offered to mod a tutorial PBF for him to get the rules down.

We'd much appreciate any volunteer willing to play along. For you the game would be quite regular, the only difference is that it might take a bit more time then usual, because I will be explaining the game in detail to Steve while it happens.

Explanations will be given via GM mostly so to avoid confusion on the thread, but you guys are obviously free to chime in with any hints you might wanna share at any time.

So, anybody interested in helping out, sign up now!

3 Seats are vacant at the moment.

Though I don't have the desire or time to play a PBF right now, perhaps playing two player would help him the most (since that's the mode he's most likely to play in).

Wouldn't mind being in a PBF again (excluding my rather stalled out game), but I'll cede my seat if we have several newbies wanting to learn it at once.

Good point. If there's another newbie out there that'd be a great way to learn it.

I actually thought a full table would be nice, so he could play the game at its full and then break it down to suit his needs. I'll leave it up to Steven

Thanks so much for setting this up Pedro. I'd honestly prefer a 4p just since it seems a little bit easier than having to deal with the dummy players. But really I am ok with anything! Perhaps we can wait for a little bit to see if there are others willing to play, and if not then a 2p would be fine.

I'll claim a seat. I'll probably not have the board set up, so I'll be relying on pedro to keep me straight.

I never joined in a PBF game.
But as Dungeon lords is my favourite game I am thinking of it.
I dont have the space to setup the game for a couple of days, so is it working without having the game setup?
How many times you normaly check the actual news? Once a day? Is that enough?
And how long will a PBF game go? 2 weeks? More? Less?

I never set up the physical game, but it is recommended if you're still learning

Once a day is the minimum that is courteous, more often helps speed the game along.

The length totally depends upon how quickly people act. I'd guess that a realistic length is 3-4 weeks, but that could easily extend to a couple months (or more) if a player or mod goes MIA. It happens sometimes, so we request as a courtesy to announce in the thread if you're going on a vacation or will be without internet for multiple days in a row.

Disclaimer: I will be offline on vacation from 8/4 through 8/18. If we cannot get the game done by then, it will probably be best that I bow out.

Looks like we might have a full contingent of 4!

Pedro, is there some graphical representation of the board for PBF? I can set up something at home (away from my cats!), but I'll probably be checking some at work too.

I think we'll manage! So please have your seat Sam.

As for visual aid, we have established a good and well structured way to keep track of things over the many PBFs this game has seen around here. So you should be just fine Steven.

Please select your colors. I will be drawing your first three random cards out of which you will have to select the ones you won't be able to use during the first season.

Player order will be:

celiborn 1d100 = (4) = 4
thenobleknave 1d100 = (69) = 69
slonk 1d100 = (29) = 29
H4msterbacke 1d100 = (36) = 36

Order of play:

thenobleknave
H4msterbacke
slonk: Green Machine
celiborn

Will deal out the cards.

And now we get to Lesson #1 in Dungeon Lords: always be aware of what orders everyone has available. If you're going to do that order, put it early. I got a bad placement on that one, but it's much better than being blocked.

Lesson #2 is to make sure you have adequate defensive resources by the time combat comes. You've been warned devil

Oh, and Lesson #3: The winner of Dungeon Lords is typically the person who screws up the least. Mistakes often have severe repercussions.

My goal is not to pile on, but simply to give a bit of instruction in your trial by fire. Of course, being an evil Dungeon Lord, it would be quite inexcusable if I were to coddle you. My imps might think I'd gone soft, and then I'd never get them to work their three daily shifts devil

devil Dungeon Business is a very hard business angry

Ok, but as Dungeon Lords have a common enemy (the damn heroes), we somehow have to hold together (...sometimes ) so I want to remember you, that after the next round there s Payday, so if you want to get a monster next round, keep in mind, that you have to feed him twice - once for the recrution, and once cause of the payday!
