I however feel the answer is a bit vauge, and I suspect others will sonn some here and argue the toss about what you are not trying to say. A better answer woud have been.

Do you feel that gun ownership should be regulated.

But that's not the question I'm interested in seeing answers to.

Changed my vote then as I am not sure what value (or justification) just banning guns, for the sake of it, has.

Thats why I raised my doubts, the poll seems slanted, and it's not accidental.

*I'm* the Canadian. Roy is American, and lives in the US. No relation to George, as far as I know.

I'm not so sure. You can tell by looking at me that I spell "colour" correctly, so I'm obviously not a yank.

I looked to see that the answers were so close, and the first thing I thought was. I bet there are a lot of European voters in this poll.

The other important issue is that like it or not, the Second Amendment exists, so I think legislation on this topic isn't for local or state governments any more than free speech or the Establishment Clause are, which is to say not at all (unless the Supreme Court rules differently, and they've been historically silent on matters regarding the Second Amendment until fairly recently).

It could be argued that the second amendment only guarantees the right to bear arms; it does not specify what kind of arms. Also the same can be said of the ‘militia clause’. There is nothing on the 2nd amendment that says that you have to have a civil populace armed with guns.

So I will be the first American to put myself out there. I find the statement "to control gun ownership" to be entirely too ambiguous so I answered To protect the rights of Americans to own guns and no.

So let me start by saying "you can have my gun when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers". I like guns and if you don't like my borrowed statement or don't like me because I like guns. I simply don't give a fuck.

I am not a criminal, never have been, never will be. I own many guns and have never once used them in any sort of illegal fashion. They are used for 2 purposes and 2 purposes only. Hunting and target shooting. I pray to god, actually I don't that is just a figure of speech, I vehemently hope every single day of my life, I never have to use a gun in self defense.

My guns will never end up in the hands of the wrong people unless I am dead as they are in a 1500 lbs. safe in the basement of my home that only I have access to.

Guns are in this world, and they are here to stay and as long as that is the case, I will always strongly protect my right to own guns.

If there was a magic switch that could be flipped that would immediately remove every single gun on the planet from existence with no possibility of the gun being reinvented, then I would be perfectly happy to use my bow for the above 2 activities.

Until then, piss off.

Disclaimer: This is not a personal attack against the OP, it is simply my beliefs on my gun ownership.

Thanks for providing your reasons.

I own a few uranium enrichment processors. I swear (as I already did repeatedly) I'll never use them for any military purposes.
I'll use their output to make energy.
All my processors are guarded by the army, so they'll never end in the wrong hands.

Sincerely,
M.A.

I believe that argument has been made many times including before the only body whose opinion matters, The United States Supreme Court, and they disagree with it.

Crap, work calls...

My point Steven, is that any further legislation, IF ANY, has to fit in the framework of the current interpretation of the Second Amendment.
