I've played around 10 games of EE in total, but I've never tried a single optional rule. Thought I'd give it a go, but as always I need to ask the wisdom of the geeks first.

Poll
What do you feel about the following optional rules?
Superb Ok Boring Destroys game balance Haven't tried it
The neutral optional rules for greater realism (13.2)
The optional rules that favor the Axis (13.3)
The optional rules that favor the Allies (13.4)
The optional rules that remove historical constraints (14)

Feel free to comment, elaborate or just post a drawing of a cat.

My cat drawing skills are pretty lame, but Jesse and I always play with the 13.0 optionals, but we don't use the 14.0 optionals.

The 14.0 optionals were added because GMT requested of us to include a way for players to remove the scripting before it went to publication. They were not crafted with the same 'labor of love' that went into the rest of the game.

Thanks for your input, Rick!

The whole poll thing was fun, so I made a big one for both Engulfed games. Check it out: [Poll] The giant Europe/Asia Engulfed survey

I can't imagine ever playing without all of the 13.xx rules.

I thought this was interesting. When we tried them, we found that the game pretty much went historical anyway. The biggest problem with them is how they killed off the pacing of the game. I like them in theory, but the game does better without them in my opinion. What I will say in their favor is that they let you feel much more in control of your fate.

I've never played with any of the optional rules. They don't seem to add that much but more rules to remember.
