The first events of this year's WBC pre-con (War of the Ring mulligan and 18XX demo) begin in less than 43 hours (registration opens in less than 42 hours). What is the first game you plan to play at WBC this year?

Hannibal: Rome vs. Carthage, 1st round, 1400 Saturday, 7/28.

edited to correct game title

I've never played, but I plan to be there in time to check out the demo of Innovation. If the game is simple enough, I hope to play in the first heat.

My favorite 18xx game for six players is two games of 1846 with three players each.

I plan to do nothing but open gaming, and one of the first games would be Telestrations or maybe Argue.

It appears I'll be there for 2 1/2 days, consuming all the vacation time I have remaining at this time.

If I wake up early on Saturday, Mulligan round of War of the Ring; not to advance, just to have fun playing one of my favorite games.

If I decide I want more sleep, Then Hannibal at 2PM on Saturday.

The rules of Innovation are fairly simple, because most of the complexity is in the cards. You should definitely be able to attend the demo and jump into the first game, even if you've never played.

And it's only a Mulligan round, so even if you lose, you can come back and play more Innovation on Friday!

I hope we can get a game of Lords of Baseball in John. I'm interested to hear what you think of the changes we've made.

I imagine this is probably an impossible request, but could anyone report how active open gaming is right now? I live an hour away and will drive out for tonight if there is a chance to be able to find a decent amount of people playing open gaming so I could jump in and get some early gaming in

I just spotted 4 or 5 open games just outside the Paradise room. Glen More, Through the Ages, Pursuit of Glory and 1 or 2 more. There may be other places people are playing as well.

Since 18XX started at 10am and HRC not until 2pm, I decided to try for some scheduling luck. I played a game of 1846: The Race for the Midwest and finished in time to play a game of HRC, having my cake and eating it too.
