So is anyone else going to WBC next week? 9 days of gaming in Lancaster, PA, with a solid WW community?

It seems like staying up till all hours of the night playing WW would be detrimental to your performance in the WBC...

Unless you're gunning for the title of WBC Werewolf Champion!

It is.. it's a rough life, the constant dilemma of choosing what games to play. Sacrifices must be made.

You laugh, but the WW group has started handing out Werewolf awards - Best evil, most improved player... village idiot... . So while WW may not be an official event, WBC Werewolf Champion is a thing you can go for

Depends on the schedule, how much I've slept, how many semis/finals I make, etc.. less then I used to, as I try to prioritize food and open gaming with friends more then I used to, and I make fewer finals.

I like the El Grande players, I normally make sure I fit in a game or two of Titan, since it was the game that got me there in the first place, and Dominant Species is my team event this year. I want to play Through the Ages and Innovation this year. The Liar's Dice and Can't Stop Tournaments are some of my favorite events . It's likely that Agricola, Le Havre, Dominion, ...

This question totally has suckered me into trying to plan my week... this plan is going to fail so quickly... . And my week looks so short now. I suppose this schedule covers none of the gaming I'm going to do after 11pm, which is another couple of hours every night at least.

Here's more info then you need/want!

Summary:
Through the Ages
Manifest Destiny
Innovation
Maybe Merchants of Venus
Maybe stone age
Maybe one of Vegas Showdown or Ra
Maybe Titan
El Grande
Dominant Species
Maybe Queen's Gambit
Maybe Le Havre
Can't Stop
Maybe Tigris and Euphrates
Maybe Navigator or Puerto Rico
Agricola
Wits and Wagers, if my team can make it.
Ingenious
Liar's Dice
Maybe Power Grid, First Sparks

Hey, I didn't know this was a thing. And it's in my state, even if it's on the other side.

If it wasn't for the fact that I just got home this weekend from being out of town for the past four weeks, I'd be up for it. Maybe next year though?

Lancaster is just a few hours up the Interstate from here. I'll see if I can go at least part of the week next year.

Second in Dominant Species. A shot at first- but the arachnids bit me instead of first on the last turn, for a swing of 25 points (lost by 21). A pretty fun and well-played game, though

Sorry, "Team Event" doesn't mean that it was played as a team - no idea how that would play - it refers to a meta "team tournament", where you and 3 friends each pick a game as your team game, and based on how well you do in it, combined with the size of the field, you get "team points", with the highest rated team winning the team tournament. And that leads into the meta-meta competition of picking what teams you think will be in the top 10 teams.

If I were to play a game of Team Dominant Species, however.. 6 player game, 3 teams of 2, team's final score is the lower of the two teammates scores? Pair Mammal-Insect, Reptile-Arachnid, Birds-Amphibians? Does that have any hope of working? Should you just have the winner be the highest score of the two? I think summed score puts too much emphasis on dominating tiles that you both share.

Sweet! Hope to meet some wolves there next year!

A lot less open gaming this year then most - getting older, and those I'm travelling with are also getting older.. we didn't even play our traditional game of Toboggans of DOOM! . I also feel like I played fewer games, although some of that is that I played 3 Through the Ages games, and 3 Dominant Species games, and was sick for half a day. The week was too short. Can't wait for next year.

If you're thinking of going, and you want a hotel room in the convention's hotel, consider booking now. (There are plenty of other nearby hotels - if you're going to book later, it's probably nicer to book one on the same side of the road, so you're not playing Frogger as often)

I'm glad to see WW getting some attention; I only wish the werewolfers were more like the rest of the gamers and accepting of everyone. Attempts to keep certain people from playing for the most trivial of reasons goes against everything Avaloncon stood for, and I hope that carried over to WBC.
