or have your face slowly burned away by a hot lamp over the course of 5 days.

Definitely not the lamp burning.

I think I'll forget who I am - I'll let EVERYONE else reinform me. I might mistrust them all, though.

I think I would rather forget who everyone else was, I can relearn that just as I have to learn new people now. I don't think I would want to have to relearn myself.

But I hate meeting people. Strangers suck balls.

I wouldn't mind forgetting everyone else. Then every date with my wife would be a first date. And sometimes I'd get lucky!

Is this forgetting a one time thing or continous?

You would forget everything that happened prior to the day you made your choice. From then on you can remember.

If I forget who I am, do I remember basic skills like driving, reading and such?

I would forget myself.

I never want to forget my wife, and hell, maybe new-me would like vegetables and exercising.

I'd totally forget my wife. First dates with her every day would be amazing!

based on raids clarification it would only be one first date with her and then you would remember again from that point forward. it's not 50 dfirst dates here.

I don't conceive how it's possible to remember all my friends/family and not remember myself - I'm an integral part of my memories of them.

Re: Would You Rather #2 or WYRwolf
I'd rather forget who everyone else was. I can easily make new friends and love new people. The fact that I've forgotten the people I currently care about, also means that I won't miss them. The forgetting part is crucial here.

However, getting to understand who I am, now that was hard work (and prolly still is work in progress). Really shitty things have to happen before one really gets to understand oneself. So I would prefer to not let that effort go to waste.

But listen again. Is it really the wind, or is it the sound of somebody running one step ahead of the dark?

I would much rather forget myself. The people I love would help shape me back into a person I'd be happy to be, whether precisely myself or not.

I agree with this but it's part of the reason I would be ok with losing me. I'm ok with forgetting those shitty things and like blue said there would be people around me who I love and trust to help keep me from going off the deep end.

I agree with that.

However I'd also choose forgetting who I am myself, since I don't buy into "finding oneself" rather than creating oneself.

I'd choose both, if I ever had to pick, and this was possible.

It's interesting to think about what losing "yourself" would mean.

Would I still like Werewolf? Is that such an intrinsic part of my person, or did it evolve from various exterior factors?

There are medicine cases where people lost all knowledge of themselves and all the people they know.

It's really sad to see a wife or husband have someone they love look at them with blank disinterest.

I think that's why I chose forgetting myself, since watching those documentaries I wouldn't want that to happen to my family.

I would prefer to re-find myself without putting them through that.

Re: Would You Rather #2 or WYRwolf
I'm actually intrigued by the face lamp in this one...if only because the base set of selections is a bit depressing to me. On the surface they are a bit fun (e.g. Chicken's 50 First Dates fixation), and if you think of crazy abnormal psych situations there are some very interesting cases on variations of both of these problems....but in most cases it's pretty depressing and to some extent I encounter/read about it every day at work.

I think I'll just burn my face off and save everyone the trouble.
