I've launched my Kickstarter campaign to bring you laser-cut board game accessories! I'm producing pieces that are durable, affordable, and beautiful. For example, the Catan set in my image below is only $30.

I think BoardGameGeek will be interested in my Dominion card-replacement tokens, too: http://lyrisstudios.com/barry/?p=1443

One of the things that sets me apart from some of the laser-cut items I've seen in the past is that I'm willing to work in large-scale, making full-size boards and player aids, like my Munchkin board http://lyrisstudios.com/barry/?p=1396 or Twilight Imperium turn order tracker http://lyrisstudios.com/barry/?p=1362. (Couldn't pick two example games that are more different, could I?)

It's a bit of a weird Kickstarter because of how many items I have on offer (and thus the number of pledge levels), but I think that's the benefit of doing custom orders; I can have a huge library of designs available. Just send me a message if anything's confusing.

I'm also doing a lot of custom work, and taking commissions and suggestions for new items to design! For example, these RoboRally tokens http://lyrisstudios.com/barry/?p=1432 were suggested by a backer. Give me your ideas, and I will make them into boards and bits.

Our campaign ends August 26, one week after GenCon. I could also use some volunteers who are going to GenCon to take some of my prototypes with them and promote the Kickstarter a bit. It won't be too demanding; I think the pieces speak for themselves

Thanks for your support!

The first game to come to mind about needing/wanting some sort of new custom piece to be made would be Eclipse. If the player boards could be embedded a little so the cubes and discs wont moved when bumped, I guess all part of the player board, player pieces & the hexes could be modified that way. Of course I don't know if it's doable at all nor okay to do. Also I know is we constantly have to keep fiddling the cubes and discs.

Same thing could be done for the Through the Ages player boards. For the yellow and blue supplies.

Just two games off the top of my head. I'm sure every game could be listed and modified though. All I know is your items are great, keep up the good work.

Just a little idea for you.. Take some wire wool to your finished pieces to get rid of the "burn" you will get a much better and cleaner finish.

(I was looking specifically at the Citadels tracker, and it looks just a touch sloppy because of the burn)

For all those wanting to back this, if you pledge $100 and the total pledge of everyone goes over $15k we get a cronokle board, all i'll say is WoW.

I messaged him a bit back and he mentioned being able to do a Piecepack set for 30$ (but missing the dice). I was waiting for that to be added as an option but it hasn't shown up yet.

So has anyone ordered something not on the pledge tiers? Do you just pledge 30$ and say what is needed on the final survey?

Either way, I imagined others might be interested in a Piecepack set so I thought I would put the idea out there.

Hey Ryan, thanks for reminding me. I thought I was waiting for something from you, but now that I look back at the message, I see that it's all on my side! I'll get to work on the Piecepack right away.

Ryan, I'm done with the Piecepack design! Here's a look: http://lyrisstudios.com/barry/?p=1572

It'll be a few days before I can print a physical prototype.

Laser-engraving dice is definitely possible, but I don't want to mess with it right now. Maybe after the KS ends I can experiment a bit, then offer Piecepack dice.

As I mentioned in our correspondence on KS, I can't print in color (it's a laser, after all), but I tried to pick out some suit symbols that are nice and distinctive at a distance.

EDIT: Oh, and BTW, I'll do it for $20. It didn't use up as much material as I was expecting! You can always pledge higher, of course

Some questions about the Catan sets:
Are the numbers cut out of the tiles, loose for random placements? If so, is there a hole through the center of the resource tiles? In (at least some) Seafarers scenarios, you draw random, facedown tiles that may be land or water. This would not work with holes in them.
I'd assume you've taken all this into account, but I can't figure it out from your pictures.
When painted, is the whole tile stained a solid color? Red for brick, green for forest, etc.? I looked for images of your painted pieces, but could not find any.

The holes are cut all the way through. Additionally, if you choose to get your pieces colored, the backsides will be colored, as well. The whole tile is stained a single solid color.

So this design may not be compatible with those scenarios. One workaround can be to use the original tiles for setup, replacing them with the wooden tiles once their identities are known.

Sounds fine. Not too much trouble to improvise a random method to reveal tiles in those scenarios. They are our favorite scenarios, actually.
To be clear, the different terrain types are different colors, right? That would make a gorgeous board, especially the stains you show on your site.
I agree that birch plywood is a durable, attractive material, but have you considered any solid woods? I'd pay a little more for that, but maybe not enough?
Incidentally, my wife hates Catan, but I showed her the tiles and she was excited about them! Getting any kind of enthusiasm out of her about board games is noteworthy; this doubly so!

Yep - the different terrains are different colors (I ask for a small increase to the pledge for the staining, like $5). I'm still experimenting with the colors; I definitely want a lighter green, for example, and probably a touch lighter brown.

I've considered solid woods, but haven't found a good supplier to make the price reasonable. For the Catan set, for example, it would add something like $30. I want to offer the option once I have my own storefront, but it would be too much to handle during the Kickstarter.

Ah, that's unfortunate.

Partway through the Kickstarter, I realized that some of the designs I had were too close to the originals, and I worried about copyright. So I moved the descriptions to another webpage and rewrote them to be generic.

Because of how Kickstarter works, I can't update the links in pledge levels after someone has pledged. However, now that you mention it, I remember that the Dominion pieces didn't have pledges yet, and I was able to correct all of them. The pledge levels should all point to the right page at http://lyrisstudios.com/laser/?p=1443
