1) if monsters move adjacent to a hero as per their tactic, and attack, do they just sit there next turn and simply make a basic attack again since they are still next to a hero?

2) there are many times monsters are equa distant to two heroes, how is this resolved when they move adjacent to closest hero. do the heroes pick where the monsters go?

3) what if a hero is so surrounded a monster cannot get next to him or her

4) a hero only moves and uses tactics for monsters he or she controls on their turn correct? NOT every monster?

5) lol...can you attack diagonally?

Follow the monster's tactics again. (Assuming the Hero has not moved away from the Monster,) if it says, "If the Monster is within 1 tile of a Hero, it moves adjacent to the closest Hero …" then the current player has the option to either leave the Monster in the adjacent square where it is or circle the Hero to any other adjacent square.

The current player decides.

Again, the current player decides. I don't know of an official ruling on whether the Monster may still attack over the other Monsters' heads or is crowded out. Personally, I would either A) play in the Heroes' favor, or B) play what the Monster thematically would choose to do, depending on whether I wanted an easier or more difficult game.

Correct, with the following qualifications:

• Villains (which are a special kind of Monster) activate during step 2 of every player's Villain phase,

• If there are multiple copies of a Monster in the dungeon, then each player that activates that named Monster activates every figure of that monster. The order in which these figures activate is up to the current player.

If you are attacking an adjacent monster, then yes — squares on a diagonal can be adjacent to the Hero. If you are using a ranged attack by tiles, then remember that a tile kitty-corner to the Hero's tile is not 1 tile away; it is a minimum of 2 tiles away. (More if there are walls in between. Follow the path.) So you can still attack a Monster on that tile, but only if your attack power allows you to attack a monster within 2 or 3 tiles.

Re: confusing rule book so a few questions
I know how you feel with the rulebook. But once you realise the game is specifically made for you to put the monsters wherever you want that fulfills the card text (because you don't have many other options), it'll all be clear.

Re: confusing rule book so a few questions
I agree with the confusing rule book but I figure, it's a D&D game so rules are more guidelines anyway and when I'm unsure (and I can't quickly find the answer here) I rule in favor of theme. If it fits my idea of what this adventure is about and how the monsters would react, that's the direction I go. Have fun with your game, WoA is one of my favorites (I say that about most if my games lol).

Re: confusing rule book so a few questions
So I guess another question would be can a monster simply do NOTHING on a turn or MUST it follow a tactic if it is next to a hero? For example should I literally move the monster adjacent to the closest hero and THEN have it swing a sword (like literally have it move one square over it is already next to a hero)

or just stand there and attack if it is already near a hero?

Try not to overthink this game. It's simple for a reaon: fast gameplay. On the monsters turn, just satisfy the tactic. If it is already adjacent to the Hero so it doesn't need to move, it can just attack.

There is an unwritten rule as well: When in doubt, the active Hero decides. It helps the game feep flowing.

Ok thats what I figured. when I played I just literally went by the card text and did exactly what everything said

Other than the Boulder Trap I had no issues except what monsters do if there is no tactic on the card.

I just want to make sure I am playing it right and there are no errors on my end that might cause me to think the game is broken or something
