Purpose of this fundraiser
In 2009 I self-published my first game, Linwood. This was soon followed up by my first card game, Capek. Since then I"ve had two games picked up by Dutch publishers, White Goblin Games. Now I want to self-release my latest game, Plethora. I plan to produce just 500 copies. I have already lined up a manufacturer, and have a price quote from them. To release Plethora I really need around $6000 NZD.

Pledges can be made here - https://www.pledgeme.co.nz/Crowd/Details/348
PledgeMe is the New Zealand equivilent of Kickstarter.

Shipping of rewards
Should this funding attempt be successful, all pledgers earning rewards will be kept up-to-date on the expected release date of Plethora. This should be before the end of September. There are no additional costs for shipping. I will ship anywhere in the world... and maybe to the moon.

Game overview
Each player aims to have the most nobility points at the game’s end. To gain nobility, players will need to complete various commissions for the city’s nobles. When players reach 1 of 3 nobles they receive a rendezvous. They then journey to that location. On reaching their destination they receive a commission. This involves traveling to one or more locations to purchase gemstones.
Players will need silver to buy their pearl, amber or sapphire. After delivering the gemstones, they receive gold and silver from the supply. Gold can be sold to a noble for a nobility card. To buy a card, players pay the gold shown on the aligning ‘keep’. The game ends when only 2 nobility cards remain.

Why aren't you PLAYING a game?

The game play video *really* explains the game and it looks quite interesting! It seems to be a pick up and delivery style game. The artwork looks really fun!

I'm a touch concerned about the dice - can you describe what are on each side? And how do you mitigate 'bad' die rolls?

Also, is there any 'engine' to this game? That is, can you get cards that work in combination with each other?

Thanks Adam. Hopefully this helps...

The dice have 4 unique symbols:
2 x Red pawn with arrow - Move 1 space
1 x Blue pawn with 2 arrows - Move up-to 2 spaces
1 x Green gemstones - Make 1 purchase or move gemstones on player board
2 x Black pawn with ? - Move 1 space, make 1 purchase, or pick-up silver

Also, players can give up 2 unwanted dice for a silver from the supply, or give up all 3 dice for 1 of 3 actions: Move 1 space, make 1 purchase, or pick-up silver.

So there's always options with the dice rolls. I tried other methods (take any 3 actions, and also using cards), but the dice worked best for the gameplay.

As for the "engine"... There is no set cards that are designed to work with each other. The modular board does away with players getting familiar with particular missions.

In reviewing the reward structure, the "standard" $60 reward that gets you Plethora also gets you Linwood. That's nice, but I also notice other rewards that mention Capek as an additional reward.

After some quick research on both Linwood and Capek, I sort of wish I had the option to choose Capek as an additional game rather than Linwood. With my kids I think it would be better received.

I know it doesn't really matter as I'm supporting Plethora and the bonus game is just that, a bonus, but just thought I'd mention it. There's always the possibility that adding reward levels might help, after all.

Hey Jon,
This is because I have a number copies of Linwood on hand. With Capek, I have to spend additional money to get more cards printed. I published Capek in a different way than Linwood - printing all boxes and rulebooks, but only printing the cards as I need them.

It's time for an update!

The funding page currently has 11 days to go, with only $280 remaining to reach the target goal of $6000 NZD.

I decided to back myself last week by paying a deposit to get production underway. This should hopefully pull the release date closer to mid September.

So in summary - Plethora is definitely being published! If you want to secure your copy, plus a free copy of Linwood, and free international shipping go here to make a pledge - http://www.pledgeme.co.nz/348

A huge thanks to all those who have pledged so far. You have literally made my dream come true!
