After manufacturing replacements for dozens missing pieces, I found I like the general outline of this low-unit density, more realistic remake of the original Avalon Hill D-Day.

But the combat results table is even more brutal than the original Charles S. Roberts classic CRT. There are no DR or AR results, only DE, EX, and AE,

I would make 1:1 odds

1 or less: AE

2: A1

3: AR

4: ex

5: EX

6: DR

7: D1

8+: DE

Then, just use modifiers: +1 for 3:2 odds, +2 for 2:1 odds, +3 for 3:1 odds, etc. -1 for 1:2, -2 for 1:3 odds, etc.

AE: attacker eliminated
A1: attacker loses one unit.
AR: attacker retreat one hex.
ex: each side must lose a unit.
EX: eliminate smaller force; larger force loses equal strength.
DR: defender retreat one hex.
D1: defender lose one unit.
DE: defender eliminated.

Units which remain stationary for a movement phase can flip, gaining a -1 modifier if attacked.
