Hey everyone. Just wanted to share with you that my first book on game design is finally finished, and it's now up for pre-orders on Amazon.com!

http://www.amazon.com/Game-Design-Theory-Philosophy-Understa...

It's a book about game design. It's a pretty radical philosophy with regards to how it treats videogames, a little less radical on boardgames (which I happen to think are a bit more well-guided in general). I think that even if you end up disagreeing, you'll definitely get something out of it and won't be able to deny that I have really made a bold statement.

As mentioned, it does have a foreword from Reiner Knizia, which is pretty fantastic.

Anyway, please check it out. Also, click on the "I want this on Kindle" button to influence the publisher to get it on Kindle. Also, I didn't select the price (I'd have liked for it to have been lower).

Sounds great so far. But it would be nice, if one could hear at least something about the philosophy or new approach this book deals with.

Also, as a hobby designer only working on boardgames, I would like to know, in how far the boardgame area is covered, or if the book is almost only about electonic games.

I'm interested.

What credentials do you bring to the book? Games designed and/or published, fields studied, etc.

Essentially at the cornerstone of the philosophy is a breakdown of different types of interactive systems. You can read a bit about it here: http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/167418/what_makes_a_ga...

It's suitable for any kind of game designer, although it's probably 60/40 videogames/boardgames in terms of the games it references.
