Was taught that once you build another barn (but not a hut) you can then place a worker (laborer) there during the winter. Is that correct? -That is why the little worker symbol is on the tile- And if so, then you do not have to feed them or supply wood since they now have built up stores/rations just like the farmer. Let me know if this is correct. Thanks.

You may have the barn and the hut tiles confused.

The barn tiles are the tiles that have a single sloping roof and look like the building next to where you store goods and coins on your board. There are no worker symbols on these chits and they are only there to indicate that you may place additional goods and/or coins in one of the expanded storage locations on your board.

The hut tiles have an inverted V shaped roof (one that slopes to two different sides). These chits do have a helper symbol on them, but the purpose of these chits is to place them over a covered wagon location to indicate that you no longer need to supply firewood for that particular helper in the future. They do still require to be feed each winter though.

(See:
  for examples of the tiles)

Hope this helps.

you always FEED your workers. sometimes 2 cubes.(per season disk symbols)

you always HEAT a worker at a camp. You do not HEAT a worker in a 'HUT' (I think of them as bunkhouses.)

sometimes (per season disk symbols) your entire FARM requires extra wood - sometimes 1 per season, sometimes 2.
