So lots of cards deal ice or fire damage. I'm thinking about the apple dragon's siege catapult. However, from my understanding of the rules, it seems like the ice effect doesn't cause double damage on regular units, is that true?

No, why would you think it would cause double damage on regular units? The purpose is to be able to efficiently damage enemies that are resistant to physical attacks.

neither does doble damage.
No attack does more damage than the printed number.
But some do only half damage, when the unit has resistances.

The short answer to your question: new players can get confused by such a large set of rules.

The longer answer: On the backside of the rulebook, "Fire attack - only ice and cold fire blocks are efficient when blocking this(others are halved)." The last game I played, we interpreted it to mean that armor was half as efficient defending against elemental attacks. It sounds like fire/ice are only relevant where the defender has resistance--they have no particular effect against resistance-less units.

This was an imagery joke (i.e. the green dragon character's icon looks like an apple split in half). As for the snarky remark, you know the saying: if you don't have anything nice to say...

Say something funny cool

Not meant to be snarky or mean. I was just so confused reading your post, I had no idea what you were really asking. I'll have to take a look at that dragon more closely. If it does look like a half apple...I'm probably going to be calling it an apple dragon in my next game against others...then they will be the one wondering if I'm on drugs

Oh dear..... The actual apple dragon which appears in the upcoming expansion set is now going to have to be changed.

I've suggested pineapple dragon.

That's exactly right, but of course enemy ice or fire attacks require double the amount of block from you unless you have the appropriate elemental block.

Also, sometimes elemental attack can be annoying when you encounter something like a high dragon, which is resistant only to elemental attacks, but not physical ones.
