Just visited the battlefield for the first time. Is there a game? Lee's retreat in general perhaps? (five forks and so on)

It was a neat place. Not as grand as some of the other battlefields though. Also a bridge or something with the road was out which made it difficult. Also we had to persuade the ranger to open up the Overton-Hillsman House (which was a field hospital) since it was closed due to heat? The house is neat as there are still bloodstains on the floor...

Lee's final campaign might make a good solitaire game.

The Union player would maneuver his forces to destroy the Rebel army or block a Confederate escape. The game system would move the CSA forces relentlessly to the west with cards, and there would be numerous random events. Grant wins by stopping Lee (of course) with a bonus for a quick end to the struggle with minimum Union losses.

This book by wargame designer Chris Perello has an excellent article on the campaign:

That battlefield is very interesting. Not a lot of development around it, so you end up with a very accurate view of the ground around it.

Never play block wargames with a dentist, they have those little mirrors to peek behind the block.
