I like the look of this series.

I am leaning towards Hurtgen2012 over Wacht am Rhein 2012, but I am open minded.

My leaning is the result of the relative rarity of games on the Hurtgen campaign, compared with the large number of Bulge games.

Which do you prefer? And why?

Hurtgen might be a bit more manageable with 2 maps rather than 4.

I prefer Hurtgen (apart from because I just bought it...) because I am not that familiar with this part of the fighting. I have been playing the Bulge since the early 1970s (Avalon Hill's 'Battle of the Bulge'). This is new to me.

Decision Games have included a good booklet about the battle which is very helpful - and very kind of them.

Malcolm,

I have now played both. I prefer Hurtgen as the game is more balanced, with the Germans standing a good chance. It has always struck me that the Battle of the Bulge is basically an unnecessary battle. The Allies simply need to give ground chewing up the Germans as they go. On the other hand, Hurtgen is more balanced, with both sides having clear objectives and taking the Westwall is fun, a real intellectual challenge.
