Having received a lot of precious suggestions on my quest to find a manageable eastern front game (the choice went with russia besieged) I'm againg asking the community about a good game on the entire north african theatre, during WWII

Plus Points: in print, not a monster game, not too complex (DAK is too complex), not case blue

Thanks in advance to all the fellow gamers

I like Afrika II very much (SCS so very easy and not very long) but it is long OOS (fitting for a North Africa Campaign game)

I am also waiting for No Retreat 2. It is currently available at Victory Point Games or you can preorder a deluxe edition from GMT. I am waiting for the deluxe edition.

That would be my choice too, on both counts.

Unlike the Afrika II, the original is often easily available.

It's a little bit heavier, but a pretty good treatment.
I prefer The Desert Fox, I think (Alexandria could
possibly fall in that one), but it's a bit harder to find.

Surprisingly good game for a subscription!

SPI played the publishing game differently from most companies.
The magazine games were their bread and butter (though maybe not
income wise). I can remember a designer complaining about a
game in a quad series not receiving the kind of development support that
the magazine companion did. So long as a game wasn't too big for the
mag, chances where the issues contained their best stuff.

Another vote for Afrika II. Also I would suggest the Europa Game: War in the Desert. It is OOP but there seem to be plenty around recently (or look for the 3 singel games, included in this one: Torch, Western Desert, Near East). I also would suggest using the Master Rules from TJ Games.

If you look for "in print" and waiting for the whole North Africa I also would suggest No Retreat 2 but it sadly isn't in print too.

As always, thanks for the insightful comments from the crew, seems that the best "in print" option is waiting for no retreat 2, and probably I'll go that route.

Thanks again

Rommel in the Desert is full of fun bluffing, and feels right. I would also assume No Retreat 2 is good, given how fantastic the first one was.
