Thanks for organising...especially two games! I am fine with everyone knowing their partners hand. What are the rules on team communication? Is it only public communication through this forum or is private communication through BGG allowed?

I choose Arythea.

I think it will be difficult to prevent people communicating.
I would prefer to communicate only here but it's not possible to forbid private mails.
Do you want a fully visible map our prefer to explore it?

It may have been good to alternate the character and tactic selection by team....

We may not be able to enforce a no private communication rule but I think everyone would is trustworthy enough to abide by it if that is the rule for the game....

I have no map preference so will defer to the other players.

I prefer exploration personally. Are we doing the "self-modding" thing from the other thread or is this one being fully modded?

Also, since our teams are essentially 1/2 do we care if we swap heroes(with fame penalty attached)? It would accelerate bidding potentially if either person can bid for the team. Whoever bid last for the hero would get that hero by default, but if both teammates agree then I don't think it matters who gets which hero on the team. Does that make sense?

I assume I still need to wait for SaiSaysPlayGo in case he wants to bid more than his partner??

Guys, I made a mistake.
I didn't want players from the same team to be next after each other.
I'm changing middle players order, as this will be more fair.

Pat, you can still bid on Arythea if you want.

I don't think so. The rules imply, if I recall correctly, that you can just say you're going to match my bid and then it's up to anyone after you to bid higher. It allows for a faster bid process since only people towards the end of the bid order have to actually increase the bid, anyone ahead of the last bidder can just say if they're going to match it to force a raise by the last person to bid.

Pawel, can you rule on how this is supposed to work? I don't see any problem with people ahead in the order skipping the people behind if they intend to match a bid, or the people behind skipping the people ahead if they intend to raise the bid.

Ok.
First player chooses a hero (which is now Arythea)
Next player from the opponent team can bid (which was done - 1 by you, Vox)
Now Pat can raise the bid or skip.
And finally the last player can raise again.
And after the 4th player bid or pass we are going back to the first player who can match the last bid or pass.
If he matches then again to player 2 who can raise again etc...
If he passes 2nd player can match or pass.
If he passes it's going to a player who didn't pass in the first round.
Example:
1st - Arythea
2nd - 1
3rd - pass
4th - 2
1st - pass
2nd - match
4th - 3
2nd - pass

Is it clear now?

It's better not to say your intention too fast as this may change somebody decision.
But that is my knowledge from games where everybody was playing for themselves
So Pat it's

And my first understanding of the Auction variant is that players who win the bid first chooses tactics last.
But after re-reading it and also discussed with others it may be wrong.
It doesn't matter when you win your hero - tactic selection is always in opposite direction then hero selection.

I sent Sai a geekmail. He posted around noonish in the other PBF game, not sure why he didn't say something here about bidding for Arythea.

To make it faster - it really makes no sense to outbid your team mate.

Dan are you matching?

As to why you can't bid 1. If you are earlier in the order than the person with the highest bid you only need to match to win, if you are later in the order you have to beat to win. I assume you are just going to pass since you won't outbid.

*ponder*... 2 is an interesting number here. On the one hand Arythea has one of the nastiest skills in the game for PvP, and she can be a vicious fighter. But on the other hand bidding 2 forces her to take a mage tower to level in one combat. I'm not sure I want to be in that position... I'll let you have her for 1 fame.
