I'm making a prototype of a game myself and my bro is designing for our game group and we are in the process of making the play version to take to our game nights.

What we are looking for is some cool coloured glass / stone beeds. I am nto sure what to search for, I seam to be able to find a lot of varied beeds but each counter need to look fairly like the one next to it.. like most beeds I find online are all really different.

Anyone know a cool source for coloured beeds? Glass or stone to be used a tokens and chitz in a custom game?

Try pet stores that sell fish and aquariums. Many sell gems, beads, etc. designed to be a colorful replacement for rocks and sand at the bottom.

Google "glass gems" or "decorative glass beads".

Wholesalers US are a great site.

If you search for "glass gems" you will hit the jackpot.

Try Walmart, in the craft section, by the fake plants and such.

The OP is in Sydney Australia.

I think probably his best bet is to go to their Chinatown area or to a bead store and find something there.

Baby dress buttons is some times a nice source. You can cut their back side with a craft knife and you can obtain funny flat counters, markers etc. There are different shapes and color alternatives for baby dress buttons.

I found all the glass beads I'm ever going to need in a local supermarket, in the homewares section; I'm pretty sure they're intended for filling vases.

I've also seen similar beads in the local garden centre; there the idea is that when plants need a bit of humidity, you place them on a large saucer and fill the saucer first with beads, then with water, so it evaporates off slowly over a day. They have a similar range of decorative beads, gems, etc. at our local one.
