I don't like if the setting is too complicated and detailed (like the Star Wars Extended Universe), but I like to know the main points of the setting and the things I meet in the game. For example I'm totally content with the fact that the blood cultist is a blood cultist, I don't really care about the cultural context of the blood cult.

But I'd really like to know what Utem, Altem, Amotep and these things mean? Are these names of places or nations or what?

As far as I know, they are divisions of some sort in the Atlantean Empire army. The miniature game had many miniatures which such names, as Utem Swordsmen, Utem Guardsmen, Amotep Maiden, all belonging to the Atlantis faction.

I can't recall any official lore elaborating on the matter. Most lore was available on collectible "bookmarks", and I only had three of them back then.

If I recall correctly it is the rank of the unit, Utem being the lowest rank and Altem the one above.

Ashen is right ;-)

Here are two four :-D links if u want to dive deeper:

A real hardcore MK fan then in the first years wrote this article, mixing up known out of the official resources and some "fiction" - but he really really did a great job with this:

http://www.cmgrealms.com/forum/showthread.php?t=532788
Atlantis Fluff

and then there is the "unit fluff" - official WizKids background to the figures released then, this one is the edition relating to your questioned figures Utem xxx and Altem xxx - although not every enemy or unit in MKBG had been really released as a clix-mini (would say a 60% had been)

Unit fluff Rebellion

And this is the core page for finding resources to the old MK game and tons of lore:

Realms MK Resource Thread

This for my homepage that is providing a lot more of interesting stuff (in german, navigation in English is provided, a lot of stuff is originally English)

Strat you should take on the title of MK historian - is there anything you don't know about MK lore or have at least a link to a related topic?

haha, no chance to compete with Maleficus the true MK-Historian himself

it isn't to "know all" - isn't it to "know where to find all"? *g

but thnx m8 sometimes hard work to dig all out what had been buried over all these years ...
