Post Typography

Subscribe to the thread!
I will usually refer to everyone by their character name and gender. Don't be offended by that.

I will try to do updates at least once a day. You will only get a full board update in the evening. You might get an encounter update in the morning.

Conditional orders

For the sake of game speed, COs (Conditional Orders) are a great way to keep things moving along unless you check in frequently. Although I can't always promise to remember them [grin].

Rolling Dice
I encourage players to roll for themselves as much as possible, and give me as much information as they can about what they're doing and what the outcome is. It makes updating much easier for me.

You use the "roll" tab when posting. You won't see the result until the post is submitted (preview is not enough).

To roll a number of standard dice, the basic format is:

Where n is the number of dice you want to roll. For instance, 1d6 looks like this:
1d6 = (1) = 1

However, many times in Arkham we need to roll for successes, and we can do that simply as well. To roll for sucesses, use:
Quote:
nd6c[5]

where n is the number of die, and 5 is the minimum number to succeed. Fer example, to roll 5 dice looking for successes on 5 or 6, I use 5d6c[5]:
5d6c[5] = (5, 3, 3, 2, 2) = 1

Game Type
This will be a 5 or 6-player game using the Base Game and CotDP (revised) without herald. Relationship cards and personal stories will be added.

Character Choice
Every player receives 3 random investigators, of which he or she chooses one to play as. These will be from the base set to keep things simple the first time around.

Text-only game
This is a text-only game, meaning that I won't be doing image updates. What I plan to do is give my text updates, and a link to an image of a blank board for a reference. Alternatively, a player -- or even a non-player -- can volunteer to produce images. It's up to you. I'll list the formats of my text updates in the next post.

Headline


Headline: Mythos Ability: Investigators in Rivertown, Easttown, and Merchant District streets or locations must pass a Fight (-1) Check or be delayed.

Flavor Text: The tides seem to be defying the tidal charts, causing elevated water levels far upriver.

Vincent Lee's roll: Daimbert previously rolled 1d6 = (5) = 5

Environment (Mystic): Mythos Ability: All monsters with a moon dimensional symbol have their toughness, combat damage (if any), and horror damage (if any) increased by 1.

Rumour: Mythos Ability: Ongoing Effect: Place 1 Clue token on this card at the end of every Mythos Phase (beginning the turn after it enters play. If a player ends his movement at St. Mary's Hospital, he may place a doom token on his investigator sheet.

Fail: When the 3rd clue token is place on this card, return this card to the box and discard the doom tokens from the investigator sheets. All investigators who discard doom tokens are unaffected by the disease. Investigators who do not discard doom tokens are reduced to 1 Stamina and 1 Sanity due to the disease's ferocity.

There are three clues on this Rumour. It activates, but everyone has a doom token, so nothing happens.

House Rules
Based on the House Rule Document
Rule 2 – Choosing Investigators (3 investigators): At the start of play, randomly deal 2 or 3 Investigator Cards to each player. Players must choose their Investigator from those dealt to them
Rule 3 - Gate Locations Unknown: All gates are placed face down on the board rather than face up. With this rule, the gate is only revealed when an Investigator goes to the location and travels through it. At the point an Investigator enters the location and announces they are traveling through the gate, flip the Gate over and the Investigator immediately moves through it.
Based on what we usually play
Rule - Simultaneous Movement, Sequential Combat: Movement phase progresses turnwise, especially in regards to combat. However, investigators may trade between each other if they pass through a location during that movement phase as though they were both in the location at the same time.

Hi guys!

So, character assignment time! And, I also have a cutesy analogue character - Gloria Goldberg! I can play the intellectual Gotham-Jew writer, win! Hey, I'm writing a thesis, right? hehe

PS I've decided not to think of her as like the picture on the card... while I don't mind the 20s bob, my Gloria is not so gaunt and old if you know what I mean




(I think that was more for my reference than yours! heh)

So I want to play Gloria as a gate-closer, since she is superbly suited to being in other worlds with her extra clues, high sanity and Psychic Sensitivity ability. First I'll go around and collect some clues, then go jump in a gate (depending if I think my items will keep me afloat!)

So fellas welcome to Gawtham! It's hawd to believe that this mahnster apawcalypse is headin so fast this way but we gadda do our best to stahp it right? Who's with me?

As I will be away from tomorrow if I could please leave the following instructions for my character. He would like to do his most to get the 5 clues and then do some shopping for the group. I see two already at Hibs road house so if I could move to Hibb's road house and have an encounter there to collect the clues.

Leave tracks as is.

If anyone is able to provide me with three more clues I can provide us with $22 and buy us some gear.

Also if there is a spell caster I can give you a couple of tomes.

So if I'm first does that mean I share my "Best of Friends" relationship with Mandy, and Jenny shares her relationship with me?

I'd like to move to Independence Square, to pick up the clue there and have an encounter (which will hopefully yield another clue!). I'm trying to get to five so I can jump into the gate at the Graveyard and close that sucker!

As both Bob and I are passing through the streets of Easttown, he could slide me one or both of his spell books? Any group ideas about that, or where else the spellbooks should go?

Upkeep
I am going to use 1 focus to shift my speed up to 3.

Movement
I am going to exhaust 2 movement and 1 sanity to use my "Alien Statue". If Successful, I will take the 3 clues. 1d6c[5] = (1) = 0
With my one movement left, I will move out onto the streets of Miskatonic University


After spending several hours studying the strange artifact, Mandy decided that she needed some time away from her office. She locked up and left the building, heading for the streets around the university.

I too have a question. How does one, when inserting an image using the geek image id, make the picture larger? The one I used that has Mandy's name is really small. - All good, found the answer

Oh, sorry. After you put in the id number but before the closing square bracket, you add in the size that you want. The sizes are small, medium, large and original.

Hi there folks, sorry bout the laggyness

a spot of housekeeping - clues, allies and gate and monster trophies aren't tradeable form the rules, but when I've played, and the last time we played together, we've houseruled that both kinds of trohpies are tradeable but not to meet the conditions of a personal story card.

Also, relationship cards are shared with the person to your left, which means (i think) that Mandy and Darrel are Business associates (GAIN A DOLLA Mandy) and that the world aint big enough for Darrel and Bob

Im going to gain a dollar from my retainer and then not move. I am going to read(?) the ancient tablet 2d6c[5]=1 in an effort to gain spells for shuffling around, or clues for nom-ing.
