Does anyone have any recommendations of a good co-op game?

Ghost Stories for a real challenge and brilliant design; not to mention fantastic artwork.

Arkham Horror is better one-player than multiplayer, I think.

I've had a lot of fun with Last Frontier: The Vesuvius Incident. It's designed intentionally as a one-player game.

I'm also a fan of Runebound (Second Edition) solo, but that's quite a different beast.

Not played either of them yet, but both Zombicide and Flash Point look like they offer good solo play.

Rune bound is good solo, but it's not actually a co-op.

Mage Knight is fantastic solo and it does come with co-op scenarios

Very true. But it's still pretty decent solitaire.

Maybe Defenders of the Realm would be a better suggestion. I think it's got some issues, but it's a pretty cool game along the same lines of Pandemic but with some interesting changes and a fantasy theme.

Castle Panic, especially if you get the Wizard's Tower expansion, is a ton of fun solo. Probably more so than co-op, but I play it co-op with my son because he likes to win games like that with Dad as his teammate.

I always recommend Shadows over Camelot. Playing with the traitor isn't at all necessary; take it out and you have a classic co-op for solo play along the lines of Pandemic, Defenders of the Realm, etc.

Well, no one has said it yet, so I'll add Lord of the Rings. I've enjoyed a lot of Runebound (Second Edition) and Pandemic solo too, but LotR is by far my favorite.

Your words of admonishment have sufficed to pierce my heart and open my eyes to the errors of my ways. I swear from this day forward to be a moral and upstanding member of the bgg community. Thank you kittenhoarder, your bold words have saved my gaming soul.

Seriously though, arkham horror is a terrible game. It may be thematic, but so was 13 Dead End Drive. The OP described pandemic is his post, which indicates to me that he likes good gameplay, and arkham horror simply doesn't fit the bill.

Of the above suggestions, probably Flash Point: Fire Rescue is the closest to pandemic in terms of solo play.

I'd like one horror co op game. Which would be the better choice, Ghost Stories or Arkham Horror? How about the expansions?

I hate co-op games, but Arkham Horror is one of the few I'll play, and I hate the theme too - so for me at least the gameplay is good.

As with all non-traitor mechanic coo-ops (something else I loathe) it's better played solo.

For your information Isaac

Arkham Horror and Mage Knight are really rules heavy. Heavier than any game that I've heard you talk about.

In fact most of these games are medium or above. Be sure to check out the rules before you commit. All will have downloadable Pdf rules if you google search.

Safe options are:

Castle Panic
Flash Point: Fire Rescue

Agree with both of these. Another with simple gameplay would be Forbidden Island.

Yup but if you already have Pandemic skip it. Same designer and very very similar game but with a little less. Different publisher if I remember correctly.

Yes,but from reading Isaac's other post about pandemic, I think he should be looking for something simpler. So Forbidden Island would be a good lead up to pandemic, as they are basically the same game.

All subjective. If you're going to give your opinion then back it up with logic and reasoning behind it. That will give the OP what he needs rather than simply turning your nose up.
