I know this seems a bit obviously, but you can only open doors not close them right. There is no such thing as open a door, find a ton of zombies and decide that the door is better off closed. Once a door is opened it is forever open right. Of course the exception being the special ability.

With the exception of the Lock It Down skill, yes, once open, forever open.

But that's no surprise when opening a door involves such implements as a crowbar, fire axe, or chainsaw!

Indeed. It's the zombie apocalypse, every one's got their doors locked tight. Only way in is to break 'em open!

I used that same reasoning. We actually house ruled the fact that when your inside a building that you busted into any other doors out of the building you could open them without noise and without breaking them down assuming that the door would be locked from the inside and you could just unlock them.

When playing with my kids, we house ruled it that once a door was open, a player could use an action to put up a barricade (and an action to pull down the makeshift barricade). This enabled them to work as a team, and taught them the importance of working out turn order, to optimize who the best character to pull down the barricade, and who was the best to build it up again.
It's a good house rule for making the game a little easier for playing with mini-zombie fans.

Sounds like a fun house rule, though once you get characters with the Lockdown skill, or the new barricade rules in Season 2, you should probably leave it out so as not to devalue those game elements.
