Hi guys,

Question about food:

The amount of food is indicated by the dice
o 2 players – one die + 2
o 3 players – two dice
o 4 players – two dice + 2
o 5 players - ????
o 6 players - ????

I cannot find the answer in the rule book.
I guess:
o 5 players - three dice
o 6 players - three dice + 2

Good guess?

Many Thanks...

Sascha

From basic rules:
You can mix cards from two game sets to accommodate up to 8
players. The size of the food bank is then determined as follows:
5 players - sum of three dice + 2
6 players - sum of three dice + 4
7 players - sum of four dice + 2
8 players - sum of four dice + 4

According to my experience playing with more than 5 players, the size of food bank determinated with the basic rules for 5 players and over is ways too much.

I made my own house rule as following:
5 players - sum of two dice + 4
6 players - sum of three dice
7 players - sum of three dice + 2
8 players - sum of three dice +4

The point is that, with the normal rules, you mostly always have a over-abundance of food and all (or the most of) the animals survive.

So size of the food bank notwithstanding, how do people feel the game is with the high player counts?

I'm always on the hunt for games that play well with 6 or more players.

How is the overall length of the game with 6?

Downtime between turns?

What significant impacts on game play are there when adding more players?

Dante, I know it has been a long time since you asked but I just happen to be able to answer. Have played this game now several times with 3, 4, and 5. With the house rule above, I can tell you 5 is by far better than lower player counts. In low player counts, the game drags on too long. More players gives the game more urgency and keeps the length much more reasonable. Everyone I played with had played before and we all agreed the five player game was far and away the best of the games we've played.
