Just checking it out and thinking it might be real fun to solo a dogfight if the game had adequate randomizing elements to it.

First thoughts?

Maybe a Death Star scenario with "programmed" Turbolasers?

That would actually be pretty cool if they made a scenario based on the death star run.

That does sound fun. Extreme puzzle like in it's difficulty.

I dont think this will work solo at all really because the main mechanic is the hidden movement templates, so unless you came up with an AI ruitine for the enemy ships to stick rigidly to then it wouoldnt work at all, and if you did that they may be too predictable.

Seems like a WoW/WoG like solo scenario would work. In WoW, you are going up against a balloon or ground target. It could be the same thing here: Death Star, Rebel Outpost, whatever.

One thing that could be cool would be to play the Rebels fighting in the assault on Hoth. Seems like it would be pretty easy to come up with a simple AI for the ATATs. Have them move a certain amount each turn and return fire; the player's objective is to destroy the ATATs before they make it so far across the playing surface.

These are great ideas. Other options for Solo Play would be taking on slower ships that effectively wouldn't move or would move quite slowly in predictable ways.

For instance, taking a page out of the X-Wing/TIE Fighter computer games, you could have a lot of enemy freighter tokens that all move straight forward each turn and you have to fly within Range 1 and use an Action to scan it, then roll a die or flip over the freighter token to see if it has the cargo of interest. If it does, then perhaps it needs to be destroyed before it escapes. Of course, the freighters could all have turret weapons that fire when you are close enough (Range 1?), which would force you to try and hit them from just the right distance after scanning and could be a good exercise in planning maneuvers. If they had same weapon range as your ships, then it would be a dice-fest to just see who rolls the more effective attacks and wins the slug-match.

Similarly, your fighters could try and blow up the two shield generator bubbles on a Star Destroyer, with intermittent turbolaser batteries to try and avoid. The Star Destroyer itself could just be a big gray piece of a fabric on the table that doesn't move.

What about playing the asteroid run scenario where you control the Imperial side and you randomly spin the movement dial for the X-Wing trying to destroy it before it randomly leaves the field?
