Sorry in advance for asking a question relating to RPGs, for I know this sight isn't about them, but you guys are the best resource that I can think of

I'm going to be starting a new campaign set at the turn of the century 1900 (initially in Chicago). Can anyone suggest some good source materials or websites that would have maps and details of people, places, events, etc? I've grabbed some stuff from my Call of Cthulhu collection--- can anyone thing of another good source?

Thanks in advance

There's quite a lot of information available on Chicago's 1893 World Fair (just do some googling), including for example this map of Chicago 1893:

Right off the bat try the online encyclopedia of Chicago. Here's the url
http://www.encyclopedia.chicagohistory.org/

It's full of good stuff on Chicago's history.

If you are going to do Chicago in 1900 you might slip it back a few years to 1893 and the Chicago World's Fair. It was arguably the greatest and most important Worlds Fair ever held. Your players could meet people like a young Harry Houdini or ride the first Ferris Wheel (it was huge!). The fair itself would be a great place to have for a game setting all on it's own.
