Just out of curiosity, why can you thumb your own posts? And do you ever do it? I mean who ever thinks "Hey! That was an awesome post I just made. I'm giving that one a thumbs up!"

As grey traces of dawn tinge the eastern sky, the three travellers, men of Willowdale, emerge from the forest's shadow. Fording the river, they turn south, journeying into the dark and forbidding lands of The Necromancer...

Just don't thumb yourself in public...it's dirty.

EDIT: Oh, and watch and be aware that you will likely get thumbed by Rudy...and who knows all the places where his thumb has been?

I know he's thumbed me more than I've thumbed him.

It was probably easier and less resource intensive to code that way:

begin usecase
Someone clicks the thumb,
Store the clicker's name.
Bang, end of usecase.

and I never thumb myself. I think it's very telling about a persons lack of character and need for validation that they would do so.

Not only can you thumb your own posts, you can hide your own as well and you can even do both on the same post!

I don't want happiness by halves, nor is half of sorrow what I want. Yet there's a pillow I would share, where gently pressed against a cheek like a helpless star, a falling star, a ring glimmers on the finger of a hand.

I thumb my own posts in one circumstance: if it's an auction geeklist or a reminder ad for an auction I'm currently running. More thumbs means more likelihood of being on the front page, and since grubbing for money is by definition self-interested, I don't see the point in not doing it in that circumstance. Otherwise, it's a bit odd, but I could see myself doing it for the humor value ("right on, me!").
