If you were going to make the stone age game board and wanted it to be affordable but look great who would you hire?

Which Stone Age Game? I'd hire Josh Cappel or Gavan Brown. But their quality is so high that they might not be what you consider affordable. Details?

While the art for a game is essential, I think good art is more important that a known board game artist.

It all depends on what you consider to be affordable. Also, what does the board art entail? Differing levels of complexity will cost different amounts.

well the most affordable I have seen is $50 for a great illustration of a person.
I got a quote for 5 quality cartoon guys for $80USD but those are my highlights...

from there its been around 300-1000

so for a game board of solid quality I think $300 is a steal. but I am not drawing a line in the sand... there are variables like art quality, artist rep, illustration complexity.

EDIT: my board is about like Stone Age.
