Hey all

I thought we could share sources of video coverage for abstract games. We all know, that chess gets a lot of love. What else are good ressources for abstracts?

The following is a modest channel that does coverage of mostly dots and boxes but also other shogi games.

http://www.youtube.com/user/littlegolemtv?feature=results_ma...

They are a lot of fun to watch if you know the game they are talking about.

Do you know some other good reccources?

Arimaa.com does a good job of publicizing big games (Human and Computer Championships, Human v Computer Challenge, World League) and often provides live commentary. The time controls were designed specifically with viewers in mind.

The Videos wiki page is a decent starting point, especially the "Commented Games" section, but is not close to exhaustive.

http://www.youtube.com/user/HIDETCHI has some good Shogi videos. The first few are very basic intro material (too slow/boring if you already know the rules) but then he gets into interesting tactics/strategy in later videos (around the 10th or so in the series). Also some of his videos are commentary on specific tournament games (I watched one and enjoyed it and understood a lot of his commentary, despite my being a weak player).

Ok this is shameless self-promotion but since you are asking for videos about abstract games, I can't restrain from mention my own channel:
http://www.youtube.com/user/JWentu/videos?view=0

there you can find 2 sample games (Foundations & Carnac) and 2 instruction video for 2 games (again Carnac & Isaac )

For all things shogi, refer to http://m.youtube.com/user/HIDETCHI

The guy has lessons, where he teaches the game and also commented matches.

I find his videos very entertaining.

Edit: in the shogi news folder of this channel he also comments about Let's Catch the Lion! or dobutsu shogi

Edit: stupid, stupid me. Didn't see what Russ suggested.
