The tactical buildup scenario offers the DRPK player lots of pre-game options for SCUD and SOF attacks. The DRPK gets to fire off 10 SCUD attacks and then gets a double set of SOF attacks (16 of them!). The US/ROK player's airbases are obvious soft targets for the SCUDs, so I fire seven at airbases/airfields. The other 3 target port facilities at Inchon, Pyeongtaek (a bit down the west coast from Seoul), and the big port at Busan.

Results are great for the DRPK, with 3 airbases getting "2" strikes, 3 more getting "1" strike marker, and one airfield destroyed entirely. Collateral damage is one F-15K flipped and 3 x A50's flipped. One air mobile point is destroyed as well. Despite all the hits, the ROK and US attack helicopters get away undamaged. Port attacks are 1 strike @ Inchon, total miss at Pyongtaek, and a big "X" result destroys the Busan port. That last one is a huge issue for the US/ROK to deal with due to its impact on getting US ground units in the game.

SOF attacks focus on HQs. The first round of SOF missions include 5 recon missions looking for HQs, with the other 3 being raids on ports (Inchon, Pyeongtaek, and Janghang). Results are mixed. Two HQs are detected. Inchon gets another hit (now Strike 2) and Janghang takes 1 strike marker. Second round is 6 raid missions and two target missions. Hits scored on airbases at 2721 (Gimpo) and 2605 (Osan). ROK V and VI corps HQs get "-1" target markers placed (useful for later cruise missile , air, and HQ strike attempts). One DRPK SOF team is eliminated during the second round. Image below shows area round Seoul. Red Xs are SCUD attacks. Green stars are SOF missions.

Overall results are great for DRPK, and not unrealistic, with the possible exception of the Busan port being "destroyed" by SCUD attacks. Given the size of the port, the range from North Korea, and the likelyhood of missile defense assets being there (either PATRIOTs with PAC-3 missiles or Aegis CG/DDs offshore) I'm not sure one SCUD attack should be able to do that in the game. Busan might need to be a special port, requiring multiple destroyed results to take it out?

I always thought that Iraqis in the first conflict holding onto their Scuds and firing them piecemeal only after the U.S. attacked stupid.
