Hey guys,
it is time for another recommendation for me and my girlfriend.
We are searching for a nice 2 player game. I am more the hardcore player who likes games such as Mage Knight, Dungeon Lords, Lord of the Rings- The card Game, Battle Lore, Space Alert, Arkham Horror... I love fantasy themed games or horror.A lot of theme and strategy is what I normaly look for. Or any Vlaada Game -(Yes I am a fanboy )

Apart from Space Alert, she realy hates the games I mentioned above. Another game which is "ok" for her is Mansions of Madness, but only if we play with a friend, for a 2 player game she doesnt like it.
So which games does she love? Coloretto, Therapy, Jaipur, Snow Tails, Rummy, Yahtzee, Cafe International, Keltis, Whats my Word,so all sorts of party games, and light card games, and I think "gateway games" are ok.

The last purchase was Jaipur and Blue Moon. Jaipur was a BIG hit. She loves it. Blue Moon was ah "ok- but a bit meh". She doesnt want more expansions for that. I think if it wouldnt be a fantasy design, she would rather like it.

Ok now what do we want next? I would love Summoner Wars, but I already know she wouldnt like it
So we searched a bit for games, and here are her favourites:
1. A la carte - she realy wants it. Realy Realy Realy.
2. Takenoko or Wasabi. Both games are because they are looking so sweet!
3. Ticket to Ride She likes the design and the card collecting.

Ok all of these games arent my favouites^^. But what is the most heavy games of these? I would guess Takenoko or Wasabi?!

Or do you know any other "sweet looking" games, but are more heavy?

Thanks for you recommendations

EDIT:
I will add the recommendation of you here, and my oppinion to them, or if we already played it.

Agricola - Already have it, its an ok game for her, but she never would ask to play. I like it. (And she only like the family variant, the full game is a bit too much for her)

Rivals for Catan - Own it, we both dont like it.

Dominion - I love it, she feels ok with it, but not a favourite of her

San Juan - Will have an eye onto this one --> Is it good for 2 player?

Jambo - Already on my list, could be a good fit for both of us.

EDIT after buying the game!

Hey all,
just want to say that we decided, (or she decided ) to get Takenoko, if our local game shop wpuldnt have it, then Wasabi, and if thats also not available A la Carte. (All 3 games were on the shelves 1 month ago...) But, I was very unlucky, Takenoko and Wasabi werent available, so I got A la carte - my least favourite, but my girlfriends most favourite^^. We played two 2-player games and one 4-player game. Well its not my type of game, but I enjoy it, cause its fun to play with my girlfdriend - and she just loves it^^.

But we will buy another game soon, and I will come back here in a few days/weeks two take a closer look onto the suggested games.

Thanks all for your suggestions

Suddenly a shot rang out! A door slammed. The maid screamed. Suddenly a pirate ship appeared on the horizon! While millions of people were starving, the king lived in luxury. Meanwhile, on a small farm in Kansas, a boy was growing up.

Rivals for Catan - I enjoy this game so much more than 'Settlers'. It's specifically for 2P, Inexpensive, takes about an hour, and has some depth without being overwhelming.

Sorry! blush This wasn't listed in your 'owned' games, so I gave it a shot. My original thought would have been Citadels (which would have been pretty light for you), but that WAS in your owned list so I thought Rivals might have been a possibility.

I wouldn't suggest Ticket to Ride unless you:
a) buy the 1910 expansion or the India/Switzerland map, or
c) Buy the Nordic Countries Edition instead

TTR with two players really lacks drama, but either of the options above can yield a decent 2P game. I have the Europe edition (no expansions), and have come up with a house version for 2P that was pretty good, but it took several tries before getting it just right.

Yes, San Juan is good with 2 players, and easy to learn! My 8 year old picked it up quick and has actually beaten me a few times in 2p play, and has defeated me plus another adult in a 3p game!

I just picked up Africana this month after a long pre-order wait. I played it last night for the first time with my wife and we loved it. It is a little like Ticket to Ride (one of our favorites), but there is much more strategy in it. I highly recommend it.

It seems that she is draw to more cutesy artwork and breezy games.
Isla Dorada may be a good option.
You mentioned that she loved Jaipur, so it may be also woth checking out Sobek (don´t forget to leave the task of sticking the character figures in the token to her )
Mr. Jack can be a hit with girls too.

There is a road, no simple highway, between the dawn and the dark of night, and if you go no one may follow, that path is for your steps alone. Ripple in still water, when there is no pebble tossed, nor wind to blow.

Jamaica may be worth a look as it will play 2 and is very pleasing visually.

Takenoko is a good choice for visual appearance and it is a very light, but fun game.

I recommend Morels. Simple, two-player strategy game about walking in the woods, collecting and cooking mushrooms. Nice artwork. Friendly theme. Surprisingly deep strategy.

Yes, San Juan is good with 2 players.

Here are some more beautiful and good games:
* Ubongo - A real time puzzle game. Sounds like you haven't considered such a game yet.
* Potion-Making: Practice. If you want more complexity you can add expansions
* Mundus Novus - Officially 3+ players but works very well with 2.
* Pretty much anything by Antoine Bauza (7 Wonders, Takenoko, Tokaido*, Hanabi)
* Seasons°

°Haven't had a chance to check them out yet but they're very much on my radar.
