Played this as a 3 player game last night for the first time. Overall I wasn't very impressed with the game mechanics, which are simple maths. Essentially each player must capture various areas with overwhelming force to defeat the enemy forces, not very political really.

There is a diplomatic aspect to the game, which we took a few turns to realise that everyone MUST gang up on Germany, and in the 3 player game, Britain and USA are randomly assigned. On at least 1 occasion the Germans had both Britian and USA, and routinely had 1 or the other, which gave the Germans a sacrificial force to batter the anti-Germkan forces.

In the end it wasn't even close, Germany 19, France 8, Russia 6.

This game may balance out with more players with experience of the game, but a 2/10 as a 3 player game. Mostly just mathematical judgements, which Germany getting most forces and moving last.
