As i cruised through the Rico galaxy on a routine patrol mission a message came from command. My Audio Retrieval Officer alerted me to the message :Sir, a new message from command on channel alpha delta tau. Please insert your audio listening device." As usual, I got the recorded message from command. Always a treat. The voice said "Captain, your ordered to change course to the Tarc sector of the Rico galaxy to intercept a terran space galleon. We received a distress sign from the craft. Nothing since. When craft located, send marines to investigate. Make sure marines are armed. That is all."
Always a joy hearing from command. Well, sounds like an interesting trip. And there is nothing happening on this side of the Rico galaxy. "Ensign Petro, change course to vega vega 3 and the Tarc sector. We need to find a terran galleon that is in distress." I told my navigator.
After I changed course I called my marine commander, Chuck Lucy "Chuck, get a crew ready. We have a galleon that sent out a distress signal. We have been ordered to investigate." Chuck replied "What are we walking into?" "Chuck, you know how this works. Command told me to go and that was it. No other details." "Roger, Captain."
It took 5 hours to arrive at the location of the distressed galleon. I sent a Robotic Doppler Scout Capsule to check out the galleon. These fly in circles around a target and send back information ranging from radar to heat signals to video assessment.
On the outside I saw a rupture in the hull. Never a good sign. The heat coming out of the ship was interesting. Very hot inside. Almost like a New Years Eve party with a 1000 people in a one bed room apartment.
I called Chuck "Chuck, get ready to send a tema in. Its strange. Seems like a lot of people are in there. But there is a rupture in the hull. Arm your men." Chuck responded "Yes sir. I am sending in 6 right now. As a scout group. I want to see whats inside." "Roger that, Chuck."
Six marines are going in. There craft is ready and so are the men. Time to find out what happened to the galleon.
The marines landed on the galleon and approached the void lock. They entered and came across and empty room. There was a door, a dark corner, a corridor and ventilation pipe. The marines reported their findings "Sir, there is nothing here. Wait, I here something. HOLY SMOKES! Genestealers, lots of them. Get ready men. Sir, we have an infested ship here. We are going to do our best to clean it up." "Aye aye marines."
The attack was vicous. The marines lost two men in quick fashion. It was brutal. But things settled down and the marines started to not only survive, but kill the genestealers. The door was activated. And the marines were able to make it through with 4 standing. No genestealers made it htrough the door.
The next room was brutal as well. 2 more marines died before the escape happened. Event he tank was of no help. It did clear out some of the genestealers but not enough.
The 3rd room was horrible. 5 genestealers managed to follow the last 2 marines standing in to the new room. It didnt last long. Death was imminent and it happened quickly.
I radioed Captain Lucy "What happened?" Lucy called back "It was ugly. that ship is infested. Too many genestealers. They were everywhere and the scout party was too small. We need to re-group and try again."
"When?" I asked. Chuck radioed back "Tonight."
And that was my 1st game. Sorry the details were sketchy. I played last night and couldnt remember everything. Too lazy to get the game out. But it was a great time. And I really enjoyed the game. I cant wait to play again. I love that I found a solo game to play.
Nice, I like the story telling of your first game.
Sounds like many of my games... ending in death.. yet I can't wait to get back in there.
Come and get them if you dare!
